Taryn & Tyrone

I have a complete stunner of a wedding today. (I mean I know every wedding I post is said to be stunning, but really I love them all THAT much!). This one is all about the Sydney urban lifestyle! Black & white, sleek, simple details and the iconic venue? The Sydney Opera House!

Taryn and Tyrone are from Melbourne but decided Sydney was the place to hold their wedding.  Taryn says “Tyrone and I met 3 years ago in a Melbourne bar through friends. We both grew up in Sydney but Tyrone had been living in Melbourne for 7 years and id been there for 4 years but it turns out we grew up in the same area in Sydney but had never ever seen each other until then! Tyrone proposed on our 1 year anniversary in the Yarra Valley. We both decided that Sydney was home and were we wanted to have a family so we moved back 7 months before the wedding, also to make planning the big day easier.”

Taryn carried a creamy pink bouquet by Sweet Art. She wore a floor length gown with a black ribbon around the waist from Evermore Bridal.

Taryn and Tyrone married at St Marks Church, Darling Point. Taryn says “St Marks is a beautiful old church on a hill in Darling Point and from the moment we saw it we knew we had to get married there. St Mark’s has hosted such famous weddings as Elton John’s first marriage and the fictional wedding in the film Muriel’s Wedding”. As the church is quite traditional, it doesn’t allow CDs, so Taryn walked down the aisle to a traditional church organ playing Pachelbel’s Canon in D Major.

Taryn and Tyrone held their wedding reception in a marquee from Opera Point Events at the Sydney Opera House. Taryn recalls “Tyrone had always wanted to get married in a white marquee. We were still living in Melbourne when we started researching reception venues. Opera Point was the 1st and only venue we went too. It was just perfect, right on the water with the Sydney Harbour Bridge in front on you. We had a lot of interstate guests and some overseas and we knew they would love the view as much as we did.”

Taryn and Tyrone chose the “Hollywood Nights” invitation suite from Alannah Rose Stationery through Sweet Art to compliment their black and white theme. A two tier cake was made by Sweet Art to reflect the invitation design. Decorative Events provided the draping, chair covers and chandeliers.

The night was filled with dancing. Taryn and Tyron chose a classic song for their first dance “We wanted an old song for our 1st dance and I love Lionel Ritchie so we danced to “Truly”. When I hear it now it takes me right back to that moment.”

Guests danced the night away and celebratory fireworks lit the ink black sky. Taryn says “We had a band called Soul Nights who really got everyone dancing from song 1 until the end. It felt like one big party with all of our closest friends and family which is exactly how we dreamt our wedding to be.”
