Kim and Eric
Today’s wedding is the perfect way to end this week. It is full of the most infectious smiles, a tremendous amount of funk and touch of glamour and a lot of quirkiness (the wedding was themed around buttons!) Kim and Eric married in Auckland, New Zealand.
Photos today are by Deep Grey Wedding Photography
Eric says “Kim’s dress came from Vinka Bridal in Auckland central – her dress was actually called “Kimberly” which she didn’t know until she actually had decided that was going to be the dress! She had two pairs of shoes for the day – purple high heel bow shoes and then purple high top sneakers for the reception as she broke her foot 7 weeks out from the wedding. Kim’s hairpiece was a brooch that she altered – bought from Vinka Bridal.”
Eric designed every piece of stationery- from invitations to menus!
Eric says “Our close friend owns two early ‘70s Falcons which delivered Kim and the girls to the ceremony and then provided gasps and laughs as we managed to do a burn out at every set of lights in central Auckland.”
Kim and Eric were married in the Western Park on Ponsonby Road, Auckland. Kim walked down the aisle to “Just Breathe” by Pearl Jam. Eric says “”The aisle was created by a sunken building sculpture and to continue that theme, the rings were held in a vintage ‘History of Architecture’ book that Kim (sadly) cut into and placed with grey ribbon.”
Kim and Eric made the ceremony very much their own- especially with their music choices. Eric says “The signing music was 2 songs from the Little Big Planet soundtrack (PS3 game), the first – The Noveltones, Left Bank Two. The second, The Go! Team, Get it Together. And the walk out music was Feist, Mushaboom”
Eric says “As the ceremony was outside we bought plastic bright coloured fans, purple and black to match the colour theme of the wedding and keep everyone cool. We also bottled Liptons Peach Ice Tea for directly after the ceremony. We bought polystyrene cups and made stickers for them which read “We are married – erikandkim – ohsixohtwotwentyten”.”
Check back this afternoon for Kim and Eric’s funky reception!

ah those shoes are divine
Beautiful!
I would love to know where the purple heels are from….please? Thanks!
This wedding is pretty much what I’d like our wedding to turn out like. Beautiful funky and lots of fun! I love love the bride and bridesmaid shoes – where are they from????
I’m not sure on the hightops, but I’m 90% sure the purple heels are the Wittner “Blossom” heels we featured in our Spring Wedding Shoe roundup
