I’ve been getting a lot of colour questions lately so thought it was time to introduce a new series! Creative Colour! Creative Colour is all about taking great colours and exploring ways of using them plus unique and fresh colour combinations. Each colour will be accompanied by a long list of suggestions so you can pick the combination that suits you and your wedding palette.
Cherry red a voluptuous colour which can be as elegant or over-the-top as our heart desires. Give it a Spanish or Asian style edge or tone it down by just using small touches of this vibrant colour.
Cherry Red could be accessorised with:
– Black and charcoal grey to balance its brightness
– Touches of turquoise or orange for an explosion of fun
– Sky blue, ‘Tiffany’ blue, a watery ‘greyed-off’ blue
– Linen – stone, putty, taupe shades, add small touches of ivory for pizzazz
– Touches of hot pink, olive green, grey-green or deep, aubergine purple
– Silk, shantung, velvet, linen – keep fabrics luxurious and generous, embroidered fabrics such as that seen on saris or Chinese silk
– Brightly coloured paper lanterns
– Red crockery or glassware or mix crockery colours from your palette
– Pewter, brass, black wrought iron, gilding for a touch of opulence
– Vintage fabrics in large florals and crockery featuring polka dots or stripes
– Toffee apples, red lollipops, candy canes
– Red shoes, beaded clips, vintage jewellery, luscious red lipstick
– Black or red glass chandeliers, moody décor and lighting, cream beeswax candles
– Green or fiery coloured orchids, deep red roses, bougainvillea, camellias, red berries, carnations, poinsettia, fuchsia, gerbera
– Sturt Dessert Pea, Callistemon, Christmas Bush, Leucospermum
– Necklines or hemlines embellished with richly coloured beading in reds greens, oranges, purples or in black
– Vintage fabric covered furniture edged in dull gold – think of a French Court
– Lace fans, black lace appliqué for a Spanish touch
– Berry desserts, fresh cherries, rosé wine, duck with cherry sauce

Now that’s a really great idea…how I’d love to sit down and pick your brain one day over coffee! 😉
Much blog love!

Oooh, how I love the color cherry red! It makes everything pop and come alive!
Awww, cherry red was one of my wedding colours. I got married in Rome and the colour worked well with a lot of Italian themes. I had the deep red roses and red shoes. Love it!
I’m actually using cherry red/linen/cream for my Nov. wedding. Any ideas of best color for groom to where? I went round in circles thinking about what my one bridesmaid should wear and we went with chocolate brown in the end. Since it’s just her, chocolate felt like a neutral choice that left us plenty of room to play with red/linen/cream elsewhere. I need help on the groom, though. I’m stumped!
I lover the colour cherry red. It carries the energy of passion, love and trust and looks absolutely beautiful when complimented with another cooler colour.
Its a fun creative yet sophisticated colour that is very versatile for weddins. Love it!
