Bride Wars opens in Australian cinemas today. This long awaited movie is full of well known wedding brands like Vera Wang, Tiffany & Co and was opened to a blue carpeted premiere last week.
Starring Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway, Bride Wars focuses on the friendships of two friends who find their inner bridezillas after accidentally setting the same wedding date. Christian Oth Studio based in New York, were selected as the main wedding photographer in the movie and shared with me some of their gorgeous images.
I love the work of Christian Oth Studios– who I discovered took the photo that graces the cover of one of my favourite wedding books by Fete NY.
The wedding photography of Christian Oth Studio is displayed throughout scenes when the two girls visit the offices of Marian St. Claire, their wedding planner (Candice Bergen). Slide show montages of Mr. Oth’s photography can be seen on large gilded framed monitors to the left and right of Ms. St. Claire’s desk.
The movie looks to be a comedy perfect for a bride who feels like she may be going a little nutty! To quote Kate Hudson Your wedding better watch it. If I were your wedding, I would be sleeping with one eye open.
If you’ve seen Bride Wars let me know your thoughts! Have you ever felt like you’re competing with your friend for the “best wedding”?
Imagine the beautiful wedding ideas we’ll be able to feast on. And it looks hilarious into the bargain. Love your quote, “Your wedding better watch it. If I were your wedding, I would be sleeping with one eye open.” Classic!
I’ve seen it. On the whole the wedding ideas are lovely, but the plotline was disappointing – the brides were painted as spoiled brats whose sense of decency and kindness flew out the window the minute they got engaged. I know it was part of the humour but parts of it were embarrassing to watch and, in my opinion (which is worth what you pay for it!), the movie just played into the stereotype that all women want are the bells and whistles of a wedding, rather than the beauty of a marriage. Having said that there are a few laughs, and the wedding dresses of both the brides are stunning. Kate Hudson’s Vera Wang took my breath away.
I absolutely loved the movie… and i’m currently planning my wedding with one of my best friends. There is no competition other than “let’s see who can get US the best deals” and using both of our events as bargaining tools with vendors 🙂
It was fun, overexaggerated and a definite chick-flick…

Mr P (poor Mr P) and I will see it this weekend- futuremissus, I wonder if there is a “market” so to speak for a great wedding movie which focusses on a beautiful marriage? would be nice to see!
I’m going to see it tomorrow night! I’ve never felt any competitiveness with my engaged friends, one of my closest friends got engaged 2 months before I did and I have enjoyed the process of planning both our weddings together, especially as our weddings are going to be completely different in size, style and location (one an intimite church ceremony and reception for 20 at a waterfront restaurant, one an outdoor garden ceremony followed by a 5 course vineyard reception for 100). Perhaps we would’ve felt more competitive if we were having similar weddings…
I so enjoy working with Christian!
