In the heart of Western Australia’s countryside, surrounded by rolling paddocks and the laughter of their loved ones, Grady and Mitch tied the knot in the most beautifully rustic way imaginable. Captured by Nic from Place of Love, their day overflowed with personality, from the heartfelt vows beneath the trees to dancing the night away under the stars.

Like all the good love stories, Mitch and Grady met through Tinder! Although luck was not on their side, with Mitch living 200km away. That didn’t stop Grady and her best friend from conveniently planning a weekend trip to his hometown the week after they matched – luckily, they knew a local to show them around!

While in the UK visiting Grady’s family, she and Mitch decided to hire a camper to explore Dartmoor National Park. As they were deciding on the perfect spot to set up camp among the wild ponies, Mitch saw an opening to create a memory Grady would never forget. “He ran back to the car for ‘beers and a jacket’ to watch the sunset. Foolishly, I said, ‘If you’re ever going to propose, do it somewhere like this,’ to which Mitch pulled out a vintage ring box and replied, ‘What, like this?” Through the tears and disbelief, I saw two family heirloom rings and couldn’t believe my luck!”

Mitch went for a laid-back look, opting for tan pants with a matching bow tie and suspenders, a navy jacket, and his trusty Akubara – all from Tarocash.

In their wedding party, Grady and Mitch couldn’t have been happier to have their beautiful son, Lenny, as their pageboy. Dressed in a sage green waistcoat and matching trousers, he was the perfect choice. “My two nieces, who flew over from England, wore matching white tulle dresses complete with flower crowns, made the most perfect flower girls.”

When it came to finding her dress, Grady had no idea where to start or what she was really looking for. After hours of scouring the internet, she came across Luv Bridal and quickly booked an appointment. “I took along two close friends, and the first dress I saw was a beautiful Milla Nova piece, covered in sparkles on a soft nude tulle in a trumpet silhouette, unlike anything I’ve ever seen before, and so glad my friend convinced me to try it on because as soon as I did, I knew it was the one!”

She finished her look with a veil she made herself, hand-stitching her favourite song lyric into the fabric. “And unknown to Mitch, there was a childhood photo of him and his late grandma, who raised him, waiting at the end of the aisle for him,” she shared.

Luckily for Grady and Mitch, there was no need to hunt for a venue; instead, the venue chose them. “Our beautiful family friends have owned Silversprings Cottages since 2021, and it’s everything we’d wish for and more in our perfect wedding venue. Connected to the land, the people, the laid back, rustic vibe! Complete with miniature donkeys.”

For florals, Grady and Mitch went bright and full of personality, created by the talented Dry Bookei. “A mix of soft and whimsical, mixed with standout colours! I opted for faux flowers as I knew the colours I wanted would be hard to find in season, and I’m so glad I did because now I get to keep my beautiful bouquet forever.”

Mitch rocked up to the ceremony in style, riding his bike with his best friends and his bestest mate – their two-year-old son, Lenny! “I remember the feeling of nerves all morning until I saw Gray step out of the cruiser and walk down the aisle towards me. The feeling of pure joy and terror all at the same time!” He shared.

Walking down the aisle was extra special for Grady, as her amazing father had flown over from the UK to join her. They walked to “Impossible” by Nothing But Thieves.

The goal for the ceremony? Something intimate, where all of their loved ones felt related and involved every step of the way. And thanks to their celebrant, Love Empire with Nikki, they achieved exactly that. “It was beyond perfect. I remember the nerves completely slipping away as we locked eyes! The sun was shining perfectly through the trees, the colour of the flowers contrasting beautifully! We ended with a glorious confetti toss to Birds of Tokyo – “This Fire”!”

Aside from their incredible photographer, Nic, Mitch and Grady’s favourite vendor had to have been their celebrant, Nikki! “She’s possibly the best in our region, and we were lucky to have her! She knows how to write a darn good ceremony and really listens to everything you want it to be and more! Our guests loved her, and so do we!”

As Grady and Mitch planned their rustic wedding, the driving force behind it all was their excitement to see their loved ones all in one place. “Knowing that soon enough, all of our loved ones will be in the same place, for the first time ever, celebrating US! But also the fun of all the pretty things, dress shopping, decorating, reliving our memories throughout the years!”

Mitch and Grady DIY’d a 50-meter bunting to wrap around the whole venue, hung photos throughout, and created a John Deere “beer bucket”. They also had friends who helped make the delicious grazing table and the desserts, with Grady’s best friend, Sophy, even decorating the cake.

The best advice Grady and Mitch heard while planning came from a friend, and it stuck with them so much that they wanted to pay it forward once more. “The best advice I got was from a friend who said: Take a moment during the evening to step away with your husband/wife and watch your friends and family from afar, who are all there for YOU! To celebrate you and your love! Remember it’s your day, to celebrate your love, whatever you want is perfect!”

There was no one detail that stood out to Grady and Mitch – each and every moment from their day has a special place in their hearts. “Hard to sum up to a single detail because it was all so perfect. My dad being here to walk me down the aisle, our son and boys chaotically running around, the colours blending together so perfectly. My grandad is making it over from the UK and giving a special speech. Mitch’s vows unknowingly matched the song I chose to walk down the aisle to!” Grady shared.

Nic from Place Of Love really understood the vision for this rustic wedding, and perfectly captured the vibe Grady and Mitch were so proud of. “Nic just gets it, she gets us! From the moment we met her, she made us feel relaxed and somehow photogenic?! Which is something I’d never say about myself! Nic completely understood what I meant when I said “give us the candid, love-filled photos!” I’ve never felt more confident. Seeing the photos back for the first time was magic. Nic is just a dream!”

For Grady, the most treasured moments weren’t posed or planned; they were the ones that captured the pure emotion of the day: “Lenny lying on the floor playing by our feet while we said our vows, the shot of us skipping across the paddock, the candid congratulations shots. The love and the happiness captured by everyone!”

The six things that made this rustic wedding so special for Grady and Mitch were:

“1. Our families and friends being together.

2. Getting married in the most magical, special place.

3. Dancing all night long to our favourite music while drinking wine kindly gifted from our friend’s family wine company – Bacchus wine.

4. Our dogs being part of the day – especially when our friends surprised us with huge cardboard cutouts of them at the end of the night!

5. Having my mum help me into my dress, a moment I’ve dreamt of since I was a child!

6. Locking eyes with each other as I walked down the aisle.”

While there was no official first dance, the couple still found a way to kick off the night in the best possible way: “We actually didn’t have a first dance… but we hired our fav local artist, Mitch Baker, to play in the evening. Mitch and I were the first ones on the dance floor, which geared everyone up in the mood, and no one left the dance floor until the end of the night!” shared Grady.

A huge congratulations to Mitch and Grady on this incredible rustic wedding! And thanks to Nic from Place Of Love for capturing and sharing this magic with us.
