Despite sharing mutual friends for years, it took a swipe right for Dom and Angie’s story to begin – and what a story it became. Fast forward to their chic alfresco wedding: a beautiful garden ceremony on the family farm, heartfelt and hilarious vows, postie bikes, and the sweetest flower girl of all – their baby girl. With every detail lovingly thought out and every moment captured by Anne Cooper Photography, their celebration was a dream come true under the twinkling country sky.
You’d think with all their mutual friends, Dom and Angie would’ve crossed paths long before Tinder came along, but fate clearly had other plans. A pub date, a few laughs, and a string of “Wait, you know them too?” moments later, and the rest was history.
One afternoon, when Angie was trying to do housework and packing, Dom kept asking her to help him move the sheep, and she knew it must have been serious if he was asking for her help – she had no clue what was coming. “He seemed desperate to get it done, so I went with him and he took me up a very steep hill to “look for some lambs” – I thought, how would lambs make their way up here? When we got up there, there was a stunning view of the farm. I turned around, and he was on one knee. Very sweet!”
Dom and his groomsmen have a tradition of re-wearing their tuxedos for each other’s weddings, so it came as no surprise when they did the same for his and Angie’s day (and for another wedding a few months later!). A simple black tux from Blowes Clothing, paired with his R.M. Williams boots and belt – classic.
Angie, only five months postpartum with their beautiful baby girl, wanted something that was comfortable yet still made her feel beautiful. She found exactly that with this stunning Chosen by Kyha satin gown. “I felt so beautiful in it when I first tried it on. I knew I would be comfortable after having my baby.”
Her wedding party wore these gorgeous Billy J Boutique dresses in a chic olive tone.
Billy-Lou Floral Boutique in Young created all of the stunning florals found throughout this chic alfresco wedding. Pulling together a mix of Phalaenopsis, Phal orchid and Singapore orchids to bring Angie’s vision to life.
Their ceremony took place in the garden next to the homestead they live in on the family farm, with rows of white chairs and the garden draped in satin.
Dom is a huge postie motorbike fan, and that’s clear with how heavily they feature throughout the day! “My husband and his groomsmen rode into the ceremony on them, and we all rode on the bikes into the reception! They were a big hit. Plus lots of photos with our wonderful photographer on the bikes. We had lots of fun.”
As “Speechless” by Dan and Shay was played by Jesse Ford, Angie and her dad, John, walked down the aisle.
Their ceremony was intimate, warm and lots of fun, thanks to their celebrant Suzie I Do! “Dom kept it light and funny with some jokes in our vows. It was short and sweet, with all eyes on our 5-month-old daughter who fell asleep in my mother’s arms during the ceremony. My cousin Scott made a reading during the ceremony, which was a blessing: ‘These are the hands of your best friend.'”
For Angie, her favourite photo has to be this one of their daughter asleep on her chest as she and Dom have a quiet moment after the ceremony.
The five things that made this chic alfresco wedding so unique and heartwarming to Angie and Dom were:
“1. Having our daughter at the ceremony.
2. Having our family and friends all come together.
3. Hearing our friends talk about us and their funny stories during the speeches.
4. Having people make so much effort into travelling and coming to our wedding, we had guests from Queensland and Tassie, which was so wonderful.
5. Having some quiet moments together as a couple to regroup and enjoy the day.”
Anne Cooper Photography captured this country wedding alongside Angie and Dom, keeping their fun, chic vibe front and centre. “Anne was amazing. Her attention to detail and ideas were incredible. She was patient and was so good with all of us and our guests. Our photos are priceless, and we are forever grateful! She came highly recommended from friends, but I had followed her on social media for a while and was so glad we were able to get her for our wedding!”
If Angie had to give one piece of advice to future couples planning their own weddings, it would be this: “Enjoy every second, the day goes so fast. Don’t stress about the small stuff; everyone around you is willing to help, so make sure you ask for help if you need it. And take some time to step away with your partner, make sure you see them, the day is about you guys! It’s not about pleasing everyone else.”
For the reception, Angie and Dom created a roof of twinkly fairy lights, so their guests could enjoy the stars more vibrantly. “Our backdrop to our stage was two intertwined wire hearts. Our whole wedding was DIY, we took a lot of ideas from Pinterest or things we had seen at our friends’ weddings and made things our own.”
Their first dance was to “Die A Happy Man” by Thomas Rhett, saying “It was beautiful as the sun had set.”
Aside from their incredible photographer Anne, Angie and Dom had two other standout vendors: Their DJ – Scotty Sax (” He was incredible”), and their caterer – Eat Your Greens (“People still talk about the food. It was delicious.”).
This was a day chock full of happy memories and moments; however, one really stood out to Angie: “The funniest thing that stands out is my in-laws singing during their speech, “Angie Baby” by Helen Reddy. Everyone joined in, and Dom was mortified. I still laugh when I think about it!”
Congratulations, Angie and Dom, on both your stunning wedding and your beautiful baby girl! Thanks to Anne Cooper Photography for sharing these moments with us.
