Once upon a time, in the tropical paradise of Bali, the stars aligned, and a love story fell into place. The moment Natarsha and Joshua met, sparks flew, and their connection was undeniable. Here we are today to share their magical fairytale wedding with our incredible audience! From the all-white ethereal decor to the heartfelt, personal touches woven throughout their day, this celebration was a true reflection of a love that feels like it was written in the stars, captured by Motion House Weddings.
Natarsha and Joshua met at a mutual friends dinner in Bali, where they both lived at the time. “The chemistry between us was undeniable, and we spent the entire evening captivated in conversation, completely absorbed in one another. By the end of the night, we exchanged numbers, eager to see each other again and explore the connection that had sparked so effortlessly between us.”
In 2022, Joshua gifted Natarsha a personalised advent calendar in the lead-up to Christmas, filled with little love notes. “One day, I opened a note that simply read, “Don’t forget to look up.” Confused, I spent the day glancing upwards, which Joshua found amusing, but nothing happened. He did this three more times, and with each came a lot of laughter and eye rolls, convinced he was playing a prank on me,” she shared. “On Christmas morning, Joshua handed me my final letter and told me not to open it just yet. He led me into the living room, beautifully lit with tea light candles and a sparkling Christmas tree. With my heart racing, he encouraged me to open the note. It read once more, “Don’t forget to look up.” For a moment, I thought it was a joke, but as I did, I was stunned to see a white ring box tucked into the chandelier above. Joshua reached up, retrieved it, and then got down on one knee, asking me to marry him. It was a beautiful, creative, and incredibly thoughtful proposal—one I will cherish forever.”
Their fairytale wedding had an all-white theme, and looked ethereal once all the styling was in place. The couple worked with the exceptional tailors at Galluzzo’s in Hornsby to create this custom suit for Joshua. “Vince helped us choose a beautiful silk-linen blend, ensuring the suit remained light and breathable in the Bali heat. The slim-cut design was tailored perfectly to Joshua, featuring a partially lined interior adorned with a charming world map pattern, reflecting our shared love for travel,” she explained. “As a heartfelt surprise on the day, we sewed a small gold love heart locket into the inside pocket of his jacket, containing a picture of his mother, who had recently passed away. It was a touching tribute that made the day even more special.”
His groomsmen matched the white theme with cream slim-cut linen suits that they paired with stylish brown loafers.
As a designer herself, Natarsha immersed herself in every aspect of their magical wedding, from creating mood boards to designing all the stationery. “From the moment guests received their invitations, which I personally designed, to the carefully curated table placards that adorned each setting, every piece contributed to a cohesive and beautiful atmosphere. This hands-on approach not only made the day feel distinctly ours but also added an intimate touch that our guests truly appreciated.”
Natarsha wore her grandmother’s engagement ring, keeping her close on a day when she unfortunately couldn’t attend. “Losing her a few years ago left a void, but having her ring on my finger made me feel her presence as I embarked on this new chapter. It was a beautiful way to honour her memory and the love she bestowed upon me. This intimate gesture symbolised the love and connection we both carried for our families, making our day not only a celebration of our union but also a heartfelt tribute to those we cherished.”
Her own wedding gown was a true labour of love, which she designed with the talented Louise Alvarez! “After hunting for the perfect gown for what felt like an eternity, I found myself disappointed by the options and their staggering price tags. Determined to create something uniquely mine, I decided to design my own dress with Louise’s expert guidance. Together, we crafted a light and whimsical gown, ideal for Bali’s heat, while honouring the classic elegance of a traditional white wedding dress. The organza bodice featured soft, removable sleeves adorned with intricate 3D flowers and delicate vines that gracefully trailed down the beautiful, soft tulle skirt. Louise also designed a stunning detachable 3-meter train embellished with the same exquisite floral details and a breathtaking 3.5-meter veil that completed the look. I wanted a dress that would take my breath away, dramatic enough to make a statement yet adaptable for both day and night—and Louise exceeded my wildest dreams.”
The rest of the wedding party wore stunning strapless cream dresses from Shona Joy, complemented by chic thick heels in a matching cream tone.
Their two children were also in the wedding party, wearing outfits designed by Adrienne & The Misses Bonney. Their all-white linen attire added a delightful touch to the day.
Khayghan Estate was the backdrop for their fairytale wedding, perched on a cliff top in Uluwatu, Bali. “This expansive venue boasts six luxurious bedrooms, two inviting living areas, three beautiful pools, a day spa, a gym, and even a tennis court. Its tiered layout was ideal for a wedding, allowing each moment of our special day to unfold in its own unique area, culminating in the reception on the picturesque bottom lawn. We enjoyed three incredible days at the estate, soaking every moment in its breathtaking surroundings and creating memories that will last a lifetime.”
The flowers and styling from Bali Becik Wedding played a central role in their wedding styling, capturing the all-white theme and layered with whimsical greenery. The aisle was lined with knee-height baby’s breath, leading the party to a break-taking fragmented arch that framed their altar perfectly.
Walking down the flower-lined aisle was a magical moment for Natarsha, and it was made even better by having her father on her arm. The string quartet played Canon in D, setting a beautiful tone for this fairytale experience.
Their magical wedding ceremony was orchestrated by their celebrant, Brady Landry. Finding the perfect balance between brevity and tradition, he led guests through Natarsha and Joshua’s love story. “He opened with a heartfelt reading from the Bible, followed by a touching prayer that set a serene tone for the occasion. One of the most memorable moments was when Joshua and I exchanged our own vows, a deeply personal touch that brought tears to our eyes and warmth to our hearts. The love and commitment we expressed in those words made the ceremony all the more special, creating a lasting memory of our union.”
The top five elements that made this wedding so magical were:
1. Getting married in Bali, the very place where Joshua and I met and lived, provided an incredible backdrop for our celebration.
2. Having our closest family and friends fly in from all over the world to join us made the occasion even more meaningful, allowing us to spend quality time together and explore the beauty of Bali outside the wedding festivities.
3. Including my children in the ceremony created unforgettable memories that will last a lifetime.
4. Witnessing all my hard work come to life in the most beautiful way was immensely rewarding, as every detail reflected our love and vision.
5. Having my father walk me down the aisle to marry the love of my life was a poignant moment that filled my heart with joy and gratitude, making the day even more unforgettable.”
With so many incredible photos from this magical fairytale wedding, it was hard for Natarsha to pick just ONE, so she picked her favourite captured moments instead. “The ones that truly stand out are those with my children, as having them there made the occasion even more special. The images capturing my dad and me during our first look are incredibly beautiful, as are the moments of my mother helping me get ready and my brothers seeing me in my dress for the first time. However, my absolute favourite photos are of Joshua and me sitting together on the tennis court. Those candid moments perfectly encapsulated our playful connection and the joy of our day. Surrounded by love and laughter, we shared a quiet space that felt uniquely ours, making those images a cherished reminder of our beautiful union.”
Natarsha and Joshua chose Motion House as their photographers and the team exceeded every expectation! “Which is no small feat, considering my background in directing many photoshoots. I had meticulously mood-boarded the entire style and vibe I envisioned for our celebration, and I was thrilled to see how they embraced that vision,” Natarsha stated. “They brought their creativity and talent to every moment, capturing the essence of our day with a perfect blend of artistry and spontaneity. Their ability to document the joy, emotions, and intricate details made the experience not only enjoyable but also rewarding, resulting in stunning images that we will treasure for a lifetime.”
Following the floral themes of the ceremony, the reception was full of tuberoses, orchids, baby’s breath, roses, wisteria, and so much more. The collection of flowers created a romantic and ethereal space, with draped greenery, twinkling fairy lights and a perfume-filled atmosphere.
After spending so much time carefully curating each aspect of their fairytale wedding, Natarsha’s favourite detail was witnessing it all come together on the day. “It was incredibly rewarding to step back and take in the stunning transformation of the venue, knowing that each choice I made contributed to the beautiful tapestry of our celebration. In that moment, I felt an overwhelming sense of joy and fulfilment, surrounded by the love of family and friends in a space that reflected our journey together.”
They had their first dance to “La Vie En Rose” by Louis Armstrong. “With elegant lifts, graceful dips, and a fun little salsa moment that added a burst of energy, it was an incredible display of our love and joy, leaving everyone in awe and setting the perfect tone for the celebration ahead.”
Each and every vendor in their dream team was incredibly important in bringing this magical fairytale wedding to life, but the standout vendor was Tash from Plan A! “She was the goddess I didn’t know I needed, bringing together an exceptional team that made our day seamless and unforgettable. She embraced my extravagant ideas with enthusiasm, and whenever I shared my visions, she would run with them, turning my dreams into reality. I loved spending countless hours on Pinterest, curating inspiration for every detail of the wedding, from decor to floral arrangements. Tash’s creativity and collaborative spirit made the planning experience not only enjoyable but also incredibly fulfilling. Together, we crafted a celebration that truly reflected our personalities and vision, making every moment of the journey a delightful adventure!”
Another standout vendor was M&M Catering, who blew Natarsha and Joshua’s expectations out of the water. “Wedding food has never excited me in the past, as it often felt lacklustre, but I was determined to elevate the dining experience at our wedding, and M&M delivered beyond my expectations. We enjoyed a delightful tasting session where we carefully selected canapés and dinner items, ultimately creating a menu that allowed guests to pre-select their choices. The food felt like we were dining at a Michelin-star restaurant; it was mouthwatering and extraordinary, leaving our guests raving about the meal long after the celebration ended.”
A special element of this fairytale wedding was their celebration of love across generations. “We created a “Generations of Love” section, showcasing wedding photos of our parents and grandparents, honouring those who raised us and remembering loved ones who couldn’t be with us on our special day. A significant focus was placed on the floral arrangements, as my grandmother once crafted wedding flowers, passing that passion down to my mother and me.”
Congratulations, Natarsha and Joshua, on bringing your magical, fairytale wedding to life! Thanks to Motion House Weddings for capturing it and Louise Alvarez for sharing it with us.
