To escape the Aussie weather, Harry and Holly flew to Bali for their dream destination wedding, surrounded by their closest friends and family. Their choice of venue—Wonderland, a stunning cliffside location in Uluwatu—was the ideal backdrop for the garden party wedding vibe they had always wanted. With pastel flowers, a lively phone booth, and a carefree atmosphere, Harry and Holly’s wedding was a beautiful blend of personal touches and timeless charm. Together with the team from Motion House Creative, they captured the day in all of its warm, lively and joy-filled goodness.
When Harry and Holly met through their mutual friends, they had an instant connection. Flash forward a few years, Harry was organising a weekend trip to the south of Western Australia with all of their closest friends. Holly and two of her friends drove down earlier that day; the ring travelled down with them as it was hidden in her friend’s luggage. “She said she was so scared someone would break into the car and somehow find it while we were stopping to get lunch hahaha. The next morning we took our golden retriever, Butters, on a walk along the beach in front of the house we were staying in,” Holly explained. “Butters ran into the water and I didn’t want him getting too wet as it was really cold, Harry said “quick go and get him” so I went to grab him, but then told me to turn around and was on one knee! We walked back up the house, and all of our friends were standing on the balcony with mimosas and brekky! At around 12 pm, we drove to one of our other friend’s holiday houses, and there were even more friends waiting for a big long lunch where we celebrated into the night!”
As they knew they would always have their wedding in Bali, Harry didn’t want to pick out a full suit that he would sweat the day away. Instead, he wore light chinos and a white linen shirt from Trenery that reflected the wedding’s casual, party garden vibe.
In his wedding party, Harry had six groomsmen – one of them being his brother. They all wore matching attire to Harry, but instead of white linen shirts, they wore pink to match the bridesmaids.
One thing Holly knew she wanted for the wedding was a mini dress as her bridal attire. The very first dress in the very first boutique she visited she fell in love with – and that’s how she ended up in this gorgeous mini dress. “It was the only store I went to with my Mum and bridesmaids and then we went out for lunch after! I was very lucky to find my dream dress in the first and only shop I went to.”
Her mum had a locket made for the wedding that held a photo of Holly’s Nanna, who couldn’t be there with them. It also featured one of her diamonds on it, so they tied it to her bouquet to keep it close by.
Holly had five of her best friends and her 8-year-old cousin in her wedding party, as one of her bridesmaids couldn’t make the wedding (she was bringing her own miracle into the world!). She had no dresses picked out for the girls but instead told them to pick out a pink dress they would be comfortable in – something that matched their individual styles. “They all chose beautiful pink dresses that really reflected their style and looked so amazing all together on the day even though they were all completely different styles.”
Harry and Holly searched far and wide for their perfect venue, and with such a large wedding party they wanted to find something that would work best for everyone. They soon found out most hotels had 10 pm curfews which wasn’t going to cut it for them – they wanted the party to go all night long! “We came across Wonderland Uluwatu on Instagram and were immediately blown away! It was overlooking a cliff, had 3 different areas to have different parts of the wedding, and had bridal suites which we could all get ready in.”
She walked down the aisle with her dad on her arm, “He is my best friend!”. They walked to “Love You ‘Til The End” by The Pogues. “We love that song, and they’re an Irish band, and we were becoming The Doyles, so it made sense!”
They kept the ceremony short and sweet so their guests weren’t in the heat too long. “Everyone had their own chair, which I was adamant about as I don’t like wedding ceremony photos where you can see lots of people standing up the back (very specific, I know). We also had a pink fan for every guest on their seat, so that also looked great in photos. We stood on a cement circle overlooking the ocean with our bridal party around us. We had Harry’s brother act as celebrant, as we had legally married in Perth before we left. It was so special having him up there who knows so much about us, rather than a celebrant who we had only just met.”
All of these incredible flowers were done by the talented Cloris Decoration. When Holly sent all her inspo photos to her planner from Plan A Bali, they were full of pinks and pastel colours to match the garden party vibes. She’d always heard about the huge price tag most wedding florals had so she didn’t want to get her hopes up if it was out of her ballpark. Luckily, when they brought Cloris on board, all of her dreams came true! “We had a mix of real and silk flowers which kept costs down and looked better due to the Bali heat. We also had giant crepe paper flowers made to go behind the bridal party table which was my favourite part. I also had a hanging petal installation put above the bar in the cocktail area which I loved!”
Motion House Creative took care of all things lens-focused for the day, capturing each and every beautiful moment for the couple. “I didn’t realise how many of them there actually would be at the wedding, and I felt like a celebrity walking around with five photographers following me, hahaha. They made us so comfortable and were really clear with how they wanted us to execute things. They also let me do what I wanted to do and boss Harry around during the photo-taking process! We were amazed at how fast they were; 100 photos and a 60-second reel at 7:30 am the morning after your wedding is unheard of!!”
Their favourite detail from the day was the phone booth from Call a Friend, which perfectly matched the garden party feel of the day and added an extra special touch to the reception setup. “Everyone loved it, and not only did it look amazing, it was something different instead of the classic guest book. The phone and the old-school booth really matched the English garden party vibe we were going for and looked amazing in photos. It was so funny coming home and listening to everyone’s drunk messages.”
The top five things that made their destination wedding so special were:
“1. Sammy Sax!! The most incredible DJ and performer! Played whatever songs we wanted whilst playing saxophone along to some of them. The dance floor would not have been as good if not for him.
2. Being in Bali. Harry and I love Bali and so do a lot of our friends and family. It was so cool getting to go on holiday with everyone and celebrate the days before and after. Everyone was so happy and ready to party!
3. The fireworks! This is definitely not common at weddings in Australia, so it was funny seeing everyone’s reactions as they went off. They also looked so good in photos!
4. Getting to spend that special time getting ready with my Mum and bridesmaids was amazing. All sitting around in our matching pyjamas listening to music was so great, and then all getting back into our PJs after we jumped in the pool was really funny.
5. Being able to speak about my love for Harry in front of everyone! It’s not every day you get to do that.”
The vendor that stood out the most to Holly and Harry was Cloris – and we’re not surprised! “Cloris was unreal. The amount of time and effort you can see that went into the florals was amazing. When we arrived to start getting ready at 11 am it was almost like they had a flower factory going. There were about 10-15 employees just making arrangement after arrangement. It was incredible to see and is definitely one of the most talked about parts of our wedding.”
Holly’s favourite part of the night was hearing the speeches from their loved ones. “Hearing from one of Harry’s groomsmen who has been friends with him since they were 5 was amazing as he knew a lot about Harry’s parents and their relationship. It was so nice hearing about them as they weren’t able to be there. There are no particular moments or stories from the day that stand out; it was just incredible being in one space with all the people you love.”
While the couple didn’t do a first dance, Holly did let the wedding party know that when they heard “Cuff It” by Beyoncé, they all had to get up and open the dance floor with Harry and Holly.
They both wanted their guests to enjoy the wedding as much as possible – and didn’t want the party to stop. So towards the end of the night Holly and Harry breathed new life to the celebrations by jumping into the pool fully clothed!
Thanks to Motion House Creative for sending this beautiful wedding through for us to share. And a huge congratulations to Harry and Holly on their incredible destination garden party wedding!
This is such a beautifully documented love story!! The setting and emotion….gorgeous!!
