This monochrome wedding was full of classic styling, simple decor and a no-fuss, fun atmosphere. The ceremony was short and sweet, so Eliza and Billy could get the party started and bask in their post-ceremony bliss for as long as possible.
With their photographer, Jeremy Becker Creative, and Tim, their videographer from Forever Ever Productions, working together to capture this classic wedding, Eliza and Billy will forever have a beautiful gallery of visuals to look back on for the newest chapter of their story.
After growing up in the same town, it took Eliza’s family moving next door to Billy’s for their story to start. Friends turned to lovers, and now, here we are, taking a peek into their next steps.
Billy had planned to propose to Eliza on an international trip they’d been planning, but once COVID-19 disrupted the plan, he had to think on his feet. “He booked us into an Airbnb that overlooked the town we grew up in and had a professional photographer capture him proposing!” Eliza explained. “I had absolutely no idea. It was so special and one of my favourite memories ever.”
Opting for a triple black outfit, Billy chose a black suit with a black shirt and tie to match the classic monochrome wedding theme. It was actually one of the first he and Eliza had picked out once they got engaged, planning most of their wedding choices to match his attire.
In their wedding party, Eliza and Billy had a mixture of friends and family. The groomsmen wore the same triple black suits from Tarocash that Billy wore but with bowties instead of his tie. The bridesmaids wore simple and elegant black slip dresses.
With all of the wedding party in black, Eliza stood out in her classic white dress from Made With Love Bridal, with her cathedral-length veil. “We wanted the black and white to contrast against each other and the guests so we would look cohesive yet still stand out as the bride/ groom and wedding party,” she explained. “I also had my Nan’s brooch and a locket with a photo of Billy’s dad pinned to my bouquet.“
Continuing on with the monochrome black and white colour scheme, Eliza worked with Boo and Bo’s Blooms to create floral designs that stood out against their dark wedding party.
All of the signs for the day were made by Eliza’s Maid of Honour, and this beautiful arbour was made by her dad. “The signs and the arbour are two personal touches I love the most from our wedding.”
To start their ceremony at Eagle’s Rest, Eliza walked down the aisle with her dad to Hailey Reinhart’s cover of “Can’t Help Falling In Love” by Elvis Presley.
Billy and Eliza wanted their ceremony to be snappy yet still capture the true love between them. “Sheree Foley, our celebrant, did all this and more. She made it feel personal while still ensuring it wasn’t very long so we could get to the celebration.”
The ceremony was Billy’s favourite moment of the day, especially watching Eliza walk down the aisle to him. “I remember how beautiful Eliza looked when she walked down the aisle and how special it felt to have our Pops sign our marriage certificate. I’ll also never forget how much fun we had celebrating with our nearest and dearest.”
Eliza’s favourite part of planning the wedding was the quality time spent with Billy, the tiny moments where they would look at each other and enjoy the excitement of what was to come. “In all honesty, though, we hated the wedding planning process, but when I look back, I am so proud of what we achieved (especially without a planner). Our wedding was exactly what we wanted.”
Their photographer, Jeremy Becker, was one of Eliza and Billy’s favourite vendors from their wedding. The couple said, “The photos of our wedding are absolutely stunning, and we still, over a year later, get complimented on them all the time. The atmosphere with Jeremy was so great, and he ensured that he got the perfect shots throughout the night – even if it meant he left late! Jeremy’s photography style was exactly what we were looking for and perfectly suited our style and wedding theme.”
With so many incredible photos from their monochrome wedding, it was hard for Eliza to pick just one as her favourite, but she settled on this one just here. “The photo of Billy and I kissing in front of the marquee. You can see some of our guests and everything happening in the background, but it really was just a special moment between us two.”
Eliza and Billy didn’t let themselves get bogged down by the finer details of the day, forgoing a seating plan and place settings. They didn’t even mind when they forgot their guest book in Eliza’s car! “Our wedding was more just about our love, family, and friends.”
Their first dance was their first moment truly together during the day, and they used that time to catch their breaths and look around to marvel at the event they’d put together. As the words to “Lost For Words” by Plested played by their band The Funk Thieves, they just soaked in the joy and love of the day.
Please join us in congratulating Eliza and Billy on this putting together their beautiful monochrome wedding! And thanks to Jeremy Becker for capturing and sharing the magic with us.
