“I must have flowers, always, and always” – Claude Monet

I’m sure you’ll agree that flowers are stunningly gorgeous, and they can be an amazing way to create beauty and add visual impact to your wedding! They evoke so many of our senses, particularly smell and sight, and your guests are sure to appreciate your wedding florals and remember them as part of what created the atmosphere on the day. Flowers can also hold great meaning and symbolic significance, which may also help to shape your choices for your big day. That’s why I’ve brought “Choose Your Wedding Flowers By Season & Symbolism” today –  from me – Julia Glass of Flowers by Julia G – for the Flowers Issue!

As an eco-conscious florist, I love to work with the seasons where possible when choosing florals to best suit your wedding. This is a way to support local flower growers and also to avoid huge air miles by importing flowers. Whilst conditions and weather can mean we don’t always see everything below in season at the stated time, I’ve given a rough guide of some of the flowers you can expect to see for the month of your wedding. It’s best to choose a florist you love and admire, and trust them to work their magic because you love their style of work, rather than being too specific about exact flowers (though you can of course always put forward your wish list and hope that Mother Nature obliges!). I have also included some flower meanings below in italics for you to ponder over. Perhaps one or two varieties suit the theme of your wedding perfectly? Or is significant to you and your beloved?

About Flowers by Julia G: I am a studio-based florist working in the inner western suburbs of Sydney. I am primarily a wedding and event florist and can create beautiful flowers for your big day or for your next birthday or dinner party. I also create weekly bouquets for the home or for gifting. I also love to deliver workshops in vase arranging and flower crown making so that I can pass my love of flowers on to others. As a florist, I am passionate about preserving our natural environment and reducing my environmental footprint wherever I can. My beautiful daughter inspires me to do so every day.
