Not all events are the same – different venus, homes, locations, and different styles of food. There are many different ways we can cater. Planning for your special day, you need to think about the catering that would suit your venue and the style of food that you would like. With that in mind, here are some tips to help you in “Choosing The Perfect Catering Style For Your Wedding” with Good 2 Eat Catering with accompanying images from Jodie Modric Photography!

Feast

Wave bye-bye to traditional three-course meals, say hello to the feast sharing platter – offering up amazing dishes that encourage your guests to get into the mix and mingle across the table. For the ultimate in relaxed dining. If you would love a sitdown event with your family, and friends with laughter & smiles, then a feast package is for you.

The feast is served on sharing platters, designed to be passed around the table along with bowls of salads, vegetables meat and seafood, and side dishes. Your guests can help themselves to exactly what they fancy and the hungry can dive in for seconds without feeling guilty.

Canapes

Canape-style catering is when single-serve items are walked around to guests by the wait staff. One of our most popular packages is our canape & “Fork’n’Talk” package. It fills your guests up and is a stand-up and party package!

The package that we recommend is three options from the canapé menu which is like an entree size, then three options from the Fork’n’Talk menu to fill you up as your main. Each guest gets 6 items of food. Unlike the many small foods in the past, this popular selection option offers sliders, pasta, and rice bowls to soak in the alcohol consumption while dancing the night away. Talk to your caterer about a stand-up option that is more filling for your guests so you don’t have to worry about people going hungry!

Buffets

With a buffet, you can get good food that is more affordable than a plated meal. Buffets need fewer servers with a simple buffet reception compared to a formal sit-down meal, although you still need staff to tend to the buffet, and waiters to provide water and wine to the tables.

Buffets make it easier and more cost-effective to provide guests with a variety of choices, helpful since people have so many types of allergies and dietary restrictions nowadays.

Other Catering Styles

Depending on your venue, there are many different ways to serve up your food. You can choose a food truck option with a commercial kitchen that is great for canapes and Fork’n’Talk menus. Food trucks add character, they can be flexible and are great for the outdoor dining option.

A marquee setup is also good for buffets and feasts. This is good for when you’re set up at indoor venues where the food can be prepped off-site and cooked on-site so your food gets to taste fresh like eating out at a restaurant.

Our business, Good 2 Eat Catering, can also be set up in your garage or carport! We bring all our own commercial equipment, this option is great for smaller spaces. Using a commercial kitchen at a venue is a bonus, but there are many other ways we can cater for you, as will so many other catering businesses. Always ask your caterer about their options and catering styles, and which one will work best for your wedding!
