It’s a given these days, that you want your wedding day captured. Wedding photography is always one of the core parts of ticking off your wedding planning list. But there is a new way to capture your day and it turns your wedding into a work of art.
Talented artists will bring along their canvas, their paints and brushes, and take a magic moment of your wedding day – think the first kiss, the recessional, the first dance, and turn it into a beautiful piece of unique, personal, custom just for you art, for you to keep in your home. Photography will always hold a place in our hearts, but the idea of having an artist bring your day to life through paint? There is truly something special about that. Today, we’ve gathered up some of our picks for Australian-based live wedding painters, who can help your painterly dreams come true.

She’ll paint whatever scene from your wedding you dream of – and she’ll even allow your guests to add their own brush stroke to your very special piece of art.
Donna has a range of packages – depending on the complexity and involvement of your guests, designed to custom-fit with exactly what you’re after. And destination weddings are a specialty, with Donna and her team available to travel Australia wide and internationally.
Jacob or “Shakey” as you might call him, is a self-taught WA-based artist. He’ll paint the moment exactly as it unfolds, in his beautiful signature style.
Jakes travels all over and with careful consultation with you, your wedding day artwork is painted in the style that suits not only your vibe but also something that will fit right into your home, You can see him in action here at the wedding of Kristina & Rhys.
Meet Rebekka. She’s Melbourne based and will come along to your wedding and paint your first kiss, your first dance, or whatever moment you dream of in acrylic or oil. Rebekka includes a pre-wedding consultation and post-event touch-ups to make sure your piece is just as you wanted.

Sydney based artist Michelle is known for her colourful and romantic style, a style she brings to her live wedding work.

Led by sisters Bernadette and Teresa, Live Wedding Painting, who are based out of Sydney (and travel anywhere) create detailed wedding day artworks from acrylics.
From single moments to interactive creations (guests can even leave their mark on the piece of art) your artist will set up at both your ceremony, then reception with an easel and oil paints to bring your wedding to life as your guests watch on.
With 20 years of artistry behind her, Poppy uses watercolours to create beautiful wedding day art (and not just live painting, she also can create wedding maps for your invitation suite and even paintings of your venue). Poppy is based on the Gold Coast, but travels all over the country, using her romantic, ethereal style to capture a dreamy wedding day moment in paint. Her packages include in-person painting, with follow-up studio time to fill in all the beautiful detail.
Love hand-drawn illustrations? From Western Australia, Michelle Pike’s work may sound like it might be for you. As a fashion illustrator, Michelle brings this modern, chic beauty to her live event illustrations. She works throughout your event, building the piece as guests watch on. She even creates custom fashion illustrations for smaller parties (perfect for a hens day or wedding shower).
Want something less fine art, more casual and quirky? Brisbane based Tim Roberts might just be the artist for you! His love and talent lie in comics and animation illustration, and it is this fun style he uses to create detailed illustrations on your wedding day. Tim is less focused on one moment, and more about capturing the layers of moments, of details that occur throughout your day – a practice he has honed through keen observation.
