Home is where the heart is, but who said the home on your honeymoon has to be your home address? Gone are the days when the holiday home was a humble beach shack. Here are some homes where you can book in for a honeymoon that will make both your hearts happy.

Tuscany or the Dandenongs, it’s hard to tell when you’re soaking in the bathtub of this quaint weatherboard cottage. The tub sits inset into a mosaic tile-covered bay window, looking straight out at the rolling hills of the Dandenong Ranges. With high ceilings, chandeliers, parquetry floors, it’s a farmhouse chic with a modern twist that ticks all the boxes.

Tucked into the bush above Yallingup, on the cusp of the Margaret River region, the freestanding villas at Bina Maya are the home you always wanted. It is industrial meets cosy, with light Australian timbers, low line leather couches, and luxe linens. Spend the night curled up by the fireplace, with a glass of local red, watch the sunrise from a cutout window directly in front of your bed, soak up the morning sun and watch the Roos eat breakfast from the deck. Splurge on a few nights at the Residence and greet the sun from the yoga room.

Winemaker Cottage, Burnbrae Wines, Mudgee, NSW
If historic cottages are your thing, make a beeline for a real classic on the Central NSW Tablelands. With charm in spades, the two-bedroom cottage comes with plenty of wood for the fireplace, along with some space heaters, and is the stuff of dreams on a cold winter’s night. Literally on your doorstep is the Burnbrae cellar door, where you can sample a wine flight to work out what to crack open that night. Every third Sunday the pizza oven gets fired up, with live music and plenty of tables spread out on the lawn.

There’s some very serious wow factor before you even set foot in the door of this space-age seaside holiday home in Victoria. Designed by Frank Dixon in the 1970s and revamped by Franco Fiorentini, it is the stuff of architectural dreams. Floor to ceiling glass windows look straight down onto the beach, walk around the wrap-around balconies to peer at The Great Ocean Road stretching off to the west and find time to fire up the floating fireplace.

Beach babes make a beeline for this swanky top story pad perched just past the southern end of Bondi Beach. The views are panoramic, to say the least. With your own outdoor terrace and sun loungers looking straight out over the entire stretch of sand, you won’t want to leave but it’s just a few minutes walk down to the beach for a swim. This two-bedroom stunner was one of the finalists in the Stayz Holiday Home Awards and with that view, it’s easy to see why.
