There are plenty of places vintage style can reign supreme, and one of our favourites? Cocktails! So today, we’re harping back with another of our vintage favourites – the gimlet!
The gimlet was most popular in the 1950s, although some say it was born in the 1800s when sailors were given lime juice to curb the onset of scurvy – they added gin and the gimlet was born.
This one? It’s a winner if not for its simplicity but the fact it can even be made easily in bulk. Who can turn down a simple cocktail that is practically medicine? If you like citrus, the gimlet is made for you, it blends lime juice, simple syrup and gin, and takes no time at all to make. Which to be honest, makes this one ideal for a wedding drinks list too!
- 60ml Gin
- 30ml Lime juice
- 30ml simply syrup
- Lime slices
- In a cocktail shaker, add ice, gin, simple syrup and lime juice
- Shake well until the drink is cold
- Strain into a martini glass or coupe
- Garnish with a lime slice
