I should probably preface this by saying, I’m not really a sweet and milky cocktail kind of gal. So when I was inspired to make a cake cocktail for cake month, I was slow off the mark. However, once I muddled and mixed, stirred and shook- I am pretty sure this birthday cake inspired cocktail may be a new favourite of mine.

It somehow balances the delicious sweet vanilla of a classic butter cake and brings back all of those memories of hundreds and thousands sprinkles sticking everywhere while you crammed all the icing into your mouth and perhaps, left the cake part until later.

Luckily, this cocktail has no boring bits- zero!  And I’ve even kicked up the birthday fun a little more by rimming the glass with hundreds and thousands for that true icing on the cake vibe!

Ingredients

  • 20ml Amaretto
  • 15ml Creme De Cacao
  • 60 milk full cream milk
  • 20ml pouring cream
  • 5ml Vanilla Extract
  • 1.25ml Almond Essence
  • Ice
  • Whipped Cream
  • Sprinkles
  • Honey

Method:

To rim the glass, pour honey into a shallow dish and dip the rim of your glass into it, fill a bowl, or another shallow dish with your hundred and thousands sprinkles and dip the honey edged glass in.

In a cocktail shaker, combine ice, amaretto, creme de cacao, full cream milk, cream, vanilla extract, and almond essence and shake thoroughly.

Strain into your pre-decorated martini glass.

Want extra garnish?  Top with whipped cream and hundreds and thousands sprinkles.
