Did you know that traditional floral foam is still Did you know that traditional floral foam is still widely used in the floristry industry?

Unfortunately, it is made from toxic microplastics and can’t be composted. Enter AgraWool Sideau, which is a natural, biodegradable alternative made from basalt rock fibre.

Finding it's new home on Polka Dot Made, florists Tahnee from @thebotanicedit (formerly Miller Rose Botanic) and Donna from @thefreoflorist share their honest reviews of this eco-friendly floral foam substitute.

How does it hold water?

Is it easy to shape?

How do you dispose of it?

They share the real pros and cons of Sideau and what it means for sustainable floristry.

The setup sits on a striped tablecloth, with a watering can blurred in the background, symbolising environmentally conscious, foam-free floristry practices.]

Cake magic by @missladybirdcakes

Nineteen years. Yesterday I sat down before Nineteen years.

Yesterday I sat down before the sun came up, coffee in hand, opened Polka Dot Wedding and just stared for a minute. How did we get here?

Nineteen years looks like almost 20,000 posts, more than 31,000 vendor names typed out, and a ridiculous number of images. It also looks like 10,000 typos ;). Two finger typist still going strong.

But what I’m proudest of is the stuff you can’t count. Couples telling their stories in their own words. Messages that land at odd hours and change a not-so-great day into something golden. Vendors finding their people. Our little team turning stress into laugh crying in ten seconds. And our quiet promise, over and over, to make this a place where more people can see themselves.

2025 was very, very full. The industry has shifted. The internet has shifted. And no one quite knows how it's all going to land. But ultimately, weddings are still hope. People choosing each other and saying, this matters.

I wrote the full birthday post over on the site. Link in bio.

And yes, there is cake. Always. Thank you @missladybirdcakes for making the magic.
