As a Wedding Producer who has seen and experienced an amazing range of beautiful ceremonies and receptions, there is one thing that I have learned: Each and every one of us has our own unique style and vision, and it can be a challenge to communicate that to your team. My advice is to never go along with what pleases everyone else – it has to be right for you! Let me start by reassuring you – you aren’t supposed to have all the answers yourselves! We outline how to get the most out of your wedding vendors below.
Not one single person is expecting you to be an expert at this, this is what your professional support system is for! Our role is to prompt the questions that you might not have thought of and explain concepts to you that you might not be familiar with. The wedding industry is typically quite a creative bunch and tend to get caught up in the excitement of it all. Don’t ever be afraid to stick your hand up and make sure that you are completely clear and happy with what is being arranged on your behalf.
Opening the lines of honest communication with your suppliers will be one of your greatest assets in ensuring you are getting exactly what you want out of the day. There really is no need to feel intimidated or embarrassed to say that the pricing is out of your budget, or that you don’t feel that we are heading in the right direction. There is always an alternative solution to achieve your desired result. Talented photographers can change the style of the shoot, and versatile venues can provide any look and feel you can imagine. Don’t like the initial suggestions or concepts – let us know – we can take it! It will be just as much fun coming up with some new solutions and features to get us back on point.
In my experience, when it comes to you planning (as in life), some of the hardest people to be honest with are your friends and family. Although it’s a bit daunting, an honest conversation with your favourite people can help to keep things on track. Everyone is here to make this the best and most unique day that it can be for you both and to make you happy – we may just need reminding how best to do that.
Sometimes, if you feel overwhelmed by the process, the greatest step forward is being truthful to yourselves. Looking at the two of you as couple and staying strong to your beliefs and values is what it’s all about. We shall have a lot of fun with the planning, but ultimately this is your journey and we are only small players in your beautiful story.

Ms Zigzag says: I love this advice from Showtime Events. It’s true – wedding vendors are a super creative bunch and are experts in their field, so they are never short of wonderful ways to make your wedding special. However, stay true to your vision as a couple and a budget your comfortable with for the very best result all-round.
