The Polka Dot Travel Lounge With Kristin From Be My Travel Muse

Kristin is a professional travel writer and photographer, originally from Southern California but currently living the nomadic lifestyle. She’s been on a big adventure for the last four and a half years and for the most part travelling solo. She believes travelling alone at least once in your life is the best way to get to know yourself. Kristin has now visited and hitchhiked on every continent except for Antarctica. She’s an adventure junkie and loves to be outside.

Kristin runs the popular travel blog Be My Travel Muse where her goal is to encourage other people, especially women, to travel on their own as well. Her passion for her goal has taken her as far as writing a book on the subject, Conquering Mountains: How to Solo Travel the World Fearlessly. Kristin shared with us her top destinations below. Make sure you put these on your bucket list!

What is your favourite region?

It’s hard to pick a favourite region, but I really do love Africa. Asia has always been a second home to me as well and I currently live in Europe. I can’t pick! Please don’t make me!

Top resort recommendation?

My favorite resort is the Grand Wailea in Maui. It’s one of the most beautiful resorts I have ever seen and I could not believe how amazing the food was at HumuHumu on their property. It also has an adorable little chapel and lots of people get married there because it’s so stunning.

Suggestions for great honeymoon activities?

Personally, I want my honeymoon to be an adventure. I would want to scuba dive, climb a mountain, or go on a safari. I think all of those would be amazing things to do rather than the typical beach holiday honeymoon.

The ideal location for a proposal

I think that the ideal location for a proposal would be at the summit of the mountain after climbing for several days. If you can manage that accomplishment together, then you can tackle life together too!

Best kept secret honeymoon location

The best kept secret honeymoon location is Vilanculos, Mozambique. I have never seen a beach that outstanding with the sandbars stretching as far as the eye can see when the tide goes out and that gorgeous, warm water. It’s a very sleepy and quiet area and you either have backpacker accommodation or way on the other extreme, supreme luxury.
