Alicea & Caleb

The gorgeous blooms that seem to spill from every surface as the icing on the wedding cake for Alicea and Caleb’s vintage inspired Tuggeranong Homestead wedding captured beautifully by Keepsake Photo by The Keeffes. The couple choosing a low key wedding day with plenty of involvement from the ones they love. All unfolded to a day the bride describes as “vintage, rustic with a touch of boho. Fun and relaxed.”

Alicea spills the beans on the story of how the pair came to be. “Many years ago, Caleb and I worked together at a local nursery. Caleb was undertaking an apprenticeship in horticulture and I was employed as a horticulturist. I remember that day when we were introduced and I got butterflies in my stomach. Unfortunately, when Caleb completed his apprenticeship he had to move to a new workplace, but we remained in spasmodic contact. However, circumstances brought us closer together and as they say in the classics the rest is history.”

The bride chose a vintage style gown from Grace Loves Lace, telling “As a florist, I have always loved the elegance and style of Grace Loves Lace wedding dresses. They are definitely not your stock standard wedding dress. It wasn’t until I was involved in an inspiration shoot at the Fitters Workshop in Kingston that I knew this was the style of dress I wanted for my wedding. The model was wearing a Grace Loves Lace dress which I fell in love with. After an exhaustive search, I found the perfect Grace Loves Lace dress for me.”

The couple chose Tuggeranong Homestead for their big day, the bride noting “We wanted a low key, laid back wedding – one where we could have the ceremony and the reception in the same place. After looking at a number of venues we chose Tuggeranong Homestead as it suited all of our needs – price, food choice, setting – just perfect.”

Alicea walked down the aisle to Vera Blue – Hold played acoustically by a good friend. The bride remembers “My father has been very ill for some time and wasn’t able to attend the wedding. To my surprise when we arrived at the venue, I was told that my father was waiting in the carpark to see me – this set the tone for the rest of the day.”

The couple chose Amanda Corbett as their celebrant. “The ceremony was short and simple and although there was a very cold wind, the ceremony had a lovely warm feeling about it. Our vows were personal – Alicea to Caleb and vice versa and there was a special speech by my two daughters welcoming Caleb into our family.”

Of their photographer, the bride recounts “Several years ago a friend used Keepsakephoto by the Keeffes for their wedding which I did the flowers for. It wasn’t until I was doing a wedding and Daniel was doing the photography that we made a connection back to my friend’s wedding. Daniel and Maria had been involved in the same weddings as me for a number of years now which has resulted in a friendship being formed. Having seen many weddings in which Daniel and Maria have been the photographers, I wouldn’t have considered anyone else.”

As the owner of Lilygrace Flowers  flowers, Alicea worked to create the most beautiful floral arrangements. “With the help of family and friends, we did all the florals for the ceremony and reception areas. These included vintage ladder installations adorned with florals – hanging from the open wooden beams and along the tables.”
