1. Plan Ahead
Your wedding stationery sets the tone for your celebration and gives your guests a little sneak peak of the style and theme of your wedding. Ensure you have your ceremony, reception, RSVP details and of course your wedding date locked in before you place your stationery order. Save the Dates are generally sent out six months before your wedding day and invitations three months prior. Always order a few spare for those unplanned guests and also a keepsake for yourselves to remember your special day.
2. Remember Postage
A great rule of thumb is to stick to standard postage sized invitations. It is much easier and less stressful to source pre-made envelopes and boxes which will be accepted by most postage facilities. A custom size invite may actually cause more issues than happiness. Don’t forget to also include a stamp on your RSVP cards as guests may send this back and forget to attach one.
3. Match Your Theme
One of the first things we do when planning a wedding is to choose the overall theme and this can consist of colour or style – country chic or modern glamour. It is important to choose an invitation design that reflects your chosen wedding style. If you are planning a rustic chic wedding, then a wooden engraved invite might be just what you are looking for.

4. Say It with Words
Apart from the obvious wording, it is important to structure your invitation so it is informative, clear and contains all the necessary information to ensure guests are well-informed. It needs to be clear who is exactly invited and to extend whether your guest can bring a plus one or children. Your tone in your information should be clear to demonstrate whether the occasion is informal or formal.

5. Timing
Aim to order your invitations at least four months prior to your day. The biggest mistake couples often make is leaving the organising of their wedding invitations to the last minute. Designing your invitations takes time and there can be some back and forth with your supplier to ensure all the details are correct and there are no more changes to your guest list. Once your invitation design is finalised, allow reasonable time for your supplier to make your invitations and also consider postage time.
