Shelley & Kyle
With its formal atmosphere, Shelley and Kyle’s elegant Frasers Restaurant wedding gives such a sense of occasion. Working with Photography By Emma Pointon the couple’s 40 degree wedding day was captured as nothing less than a magical day.
Shelley tells the story of how they came to be. “Kyle and I first met at the Cottesloe Hotel in September 2008. He actually bumped into me on the dance floor and spilt his drink all over me. That got us talking and from there we exchanged numbers. We messaged each other on and off for a while but life got in the way and we didn’t catch up again. In May 2009 I was at a close friend, Adele’s 21st birthday party. As I entered the room I saw a familiar face and funnily enough it was Kyle. It felt like fate, 9 months later we were back together again. We danced the night away and from that night on we kept in contact and the rest is history.”
The bride wore a gown by Raffaele Ciuca , she tells, “Living in Melbourne I had endless options of where I could go wedding dress shopping. I wanted my Mum and three bridesmaids (my sister and two best friends from school) to be a part of the experience so invited them to come over from Perth for a girls’ weekend. We had a few appointments booked in over the weekend. We arrived at the second shop and I ask each of them to choose a dress that they thought would look good on me. I also chose a few dresses to try on. I had in mind that I wanted a strapless lace dress again going for the timeless elegant look. My sister chose a dress that was sweetheart neckline, detailed lace and mermaid style. I tried in on and straight away fell in love with it. I knew it was the dress and purchased it that same day.”
Shelley and Kyle chose St Joseph’s Church, Subiaco for their ceremony, the bride explaining, “I always wanted a big Church Wedding. We chose St Joseph’s because of the location and the beautiful architecture inside.”
Shelley walked down the aisle to “‘Stay With Me’ by Sam Smith sang by a friend of Kyle’s Sophie Thompson . She was amazing and everyone was blown away by her stunning voice.”
“Our ceremony was very emotional. Kyle cried from the moment I walked down the aisle until we sealed the deal with a kiss. I wanted it to be intimate and meaningful and something we would never forget. We had our siblings do readings as well as my Nanna as we wanted them to be apart of the day.”
Of their photographer, Shelley remarks, “Emma was great, super friendly and awesome to have there with us on the day. She made us feel comfortable right from the get go. We chose Emma because we loved her style of photos. There are a lot of photographers out there who make you do awkward unnatural poses and that wasn’t what we wanted at all. We really liked Emma’s style and were so happy with all of our wedding photos.”
“It was a stinking hot 40 degree day. I remember from the moment we woke up we were all boiling hot but that didn’t ruin our day. Later on in the night it actually started to rain and there was a thunderstorm. The lightening lit up the whole of Perth city and the view from Fraser’s was incredible. It actually added to the wedding reception and we got some amazing photos from it as well.”
Shelley and Kyle celebrated with their guests at Frasers Restaurant. Shelley noting, “We chose Fraser’s as it is so well located and having a lot of interstate guests it was a fantastic setting to show Perth off at its finest. All of our guests raved about how stunning both of the locations were.”
A four tier white wedding cake and bride and groom cookies, gifted as favours were made by a family friend. Says Shelley, “I loved our wedding cake and the bride and groom cookie favours which were made by a family friend.” ”
The bride and groom loved, “All of our interstate family and friends who made the trip over to Perth to be there to share the day with us . The day went perfectly and it was all we ever dreamed of and more.”
Of their first dance, the bride remembers, “Our first dance was to the song ‘Never Tear Us Apart’ by INXS. We practised a dance routine a couple of times before the big day but I think on the night and being in the moment we just did what felt right. It took us a while to come up with our first dance song. We were throwing around a couple of different songs but as soon as Kyle mentioned ‘Never Tear US Apart’ straight away I thought the song would be perfect for our first dance.”
To top off the day, Launch Film Productions captured a film of Shelley and Kyle’s wedding. I love that their wedding film is filled to the brim with heartfelt stories.
