Flowers are such a huge element of a wedding (said the florist!), and can create the atmosphere and style you wish for your wedding. When speaking to your florist about the flowers for your wedding day, remember to ask about the detail on your chosen buttonholes. A grey grosgrain ribbon keeps them modern and classic, as opposed to white satin, especially if it is tied in a simple knot (rather than being pinned). Even brown string can be used to create a rustic feel. Keeping the natural stems showing is a clever way to ensure the flowers look stylish yet simple. And the absence of solid backing leaves (for example, camellia) brings a subtle and botanical feel.

When selecting blooms for your buttonholes (which will likely reflect the style if not the exact flowers in the bride’s bouquet), ask your lovely florist to steer clear of large headed flora, and request seeds, foliage and herbs interspersed with small headed blooms. Geraldton wax, rosemary, heather, grape hyacinth, hypericum berry, hops or geranium are all perfect to create this style. The more unstructured the better, which will allow for a simple design.
