Tell us about you and your career
I’m a wedding photographer who lives in Bowral New South Wales (100km south of Sydney). I’ve been shooting weddings for ten years and I really enjoy capturing the fun and excitement of a wedding day. My family had a tree change moving from Manly down to the Southern Highlands a few years ago, and while we miss the beach, we love the lifestyle here and it’s an awesome area for weddings. We do a lot of family photography locally and are spoilt for locations – especially in autumn, the colours are amazing.
Tell us about your wedding
It was a very relaxed beach wedding on the north coast of New South Wales where my wife grew up. The ceremony was on Sandy Beach headland with stunning views of the coastline sweeping to the south. We had the reception at my wife’s parent’s house nearby and as it was late December and beautiful weather so we had all the tables outside on the lawn. After the wedding day itself, we then had two more days of fun with everyone including a full on Survivor Day and a big New Year’s Eve party which was an awesome way to finish off the wedding celebrations and the year!
What was your most memorable moment (or moments!)?
Definitely seeing my wife walk over the rise of the headland and down the aisle. She looked unbelievably beautiful and it’s such an intense moment after all the waiting and build-up.
If you could change one thing, what would it be?
Very little if anything at all….from a photography point of view it would have been great to get away and do some photos closer to sunset so perhaps having a slightly later ceremony to allow this would have been great. But being a summer wedding with a late sunset time you don’t often have the chance to schedule this in.
Who are your vendors?
Grant our photographer was awesome.
Who was your photographer?
Grant Emerson
What advice do you have for others planning their wedding?
Plan the kind of day that will make you happy. So I guess the perfect day is very likely the one that suits your personality as a couple.
