Donna & Shaun
I’ve always loved the beauty of a a winery wedding and Donna & Shaun’s chic Zonzo Estate wedding certainly ticks all the boxes when it comes to a beautiful love story among the vineyards. The happy couple worked with Love Katie and Sarah and The White Tree to capture their day.
Donna lets us in on the story of how she and Shaun met. “Shaun and I met online 4 and a half years ago, but it took us a whole year of emailing, messaging and dating to officially become a couple.”
The day started with an elegant suite of floral stationery Donna noting, “One of our best friends (of Good Day Sunshine) designed all of our stationery for us.”
Donna chose a lace gown with a sweetheart neckline, she tells, “My dress was a Peter Trends Bridal dress purchased from Fairytales Bridal Boutique. It was a gorgeous strapless lace dress with pearl beading on the bodice and a mocha coloured underlay that really made the pattern of the lace pop. I loved that it was elegant, suited my figure and was a little bit different. The girls at Fairytales were fantastic!
I was 3 months pregnant at our wedding, so the girls really had their work cut out for them with the fittings, especially as the cut of the dress meant I couldn’t hide a belly very much in it!! They were so accommodating and relaxed, I knew I was in good hands and the dress turned out fabulously!”
Donna and Shaun chose Zonzo Estate for their wedding, remarking, “Zonzo was one of the very first venues that we visited, and we knew we had found the one straight away. It had a perfect mix of elegant and rustic that we just didn’t see anywhere else.”
Donna walked down the aisle to “XO” by John Mayer.
Koren Harvey officiated the very personalized ceremony, Donna telling, “Koren wrote the most beautiful ceremony for us and that really reflected who we were as individuals and as a couple. She encouraged us to write our own vows and we are so glad that we did. We have since had so many compliments from all of our guests about how gorgeous our ceremony was. Koren did such a great job!!”
“The ceremony was held in the barn, with long wooden benches, jars of flowers and candles lining the aisle. We wrote our own vows, which mentioned Shaun’s love of dogs and crazy dance moves and my ‘sexy legs’!!
It was important to us that the ceremony really felt like us. One of our very best friends provided a reading for us that spoke of finding your soul mate, the person who allows our truest selves to step out. It was a perfect reading for us.”
Of their photographers, Donna remarks, “Love Katie & Sarah were just fabulous. Katie made us feel so comfortable from our very first meeting and having her and Sarah at our wedding was just like having another couple of friends there. They were just dolls and have captured the most beautiful images.”
“We loved the delish food and amazing wine, coupled with the beautiful winery setting, long tables with hessian table runners, jars of mixed flowers and candles and share plates of food, we couldn’t have had a more perfect venue.”
Donna remarks, “We have so many favourite memories. My parents have passed away, so I wore my mum’s heart shaped pendant stitched into my dress, so that she was always close to my heart throughout the day. We had the most incredible speeches that held many laughs and tears. Shaun even dropped in a few Maltese words to the delight of my family!!”
The first dance was to an old favourite, Donna remembering, “Our first dance was to an acoustic cover of Al Green’s Lets Stay Together. Such a beautiful song!! Shaun is a fantastic dancer whereas I have been likened to Bambi slipping around on ice, so I was super nervous, especially when Shaun started with a few spins!! Our bridal party and their partners joined us halfway through our first dance, which was super lovely.”
The White Tree were chosen by the newlyweds to create a film of their day. I adore how it captured that chic romantic vibe of the day.
Congratulations on your marriage Donna and Shaun! Thank you for sharing your day with us, thank you also to Love Katie and Sarah for sharing today’s celebration!
Great job.
