Fleur & Rich
A country wedding at home is always a special occasion and when today’s couple Fleur and Rich got married, they chose a country Barwon Heads wedding for their big day, choosing Mavis Jean Photography and Lachlan Woods Photography to capture it all.
Fleur recounts the story of how they met. “We were lucky enough to have been set up on a blind date by a mutual friend. Five dates in the first week…I say no more!”
Fleur chose Carla Zampatti for her wedding day, noting, “I didn’t want to have the stress of getting one made and was originally going to be very nontraditional but it ended up being quite bridal and I wore my sister’s stunning veil!”
An illustration by Joanna Weir featured on the invitation and set the theme of bright red geraniums for the day.
Family was a big part of the day, the bride noting, “Rich and my family were a huge part of the day, with my sister and mum doing the flowers, my father doing lots of the heavy lifting and giving me away and my brother Fraser singing live in front of everyone!
Fraser was also the MC and with my brother in law James and Emily his girlfriend wrote the most amazing reading I have ever heard in my life (and I would know having been a bridesmaid seven times and been to over 30 Weddings!). It was also very special for us to get married at Rich’s parents Susie & Woody’s beautiful property.”
“It was a lovely day in the country with the sun shining surrounded by very special people, good food and wine and of course the best dance floor there ever was! The main theme was rustic, country with Italian influence …our favourite cuisine!”
Fleur remembers, “As I arrived in my father in law’s red vintage Austin Healy with my dad driving the sun started to shine!”
For her walk down the aisle, Fleur remembers, “I chose a very emotional song ‘ Resolution’ by Matt Corby that worked perfectly! Amazing impact and one of our favorite artists.”
Rich chose a blue suit from P Johnson Tailors, Fleur noting, “Rich wore a very stylish tailored made P. Johnson Suit in a lovely blue to bring out his eyes. My Bridesmaid Tam’s husband owns the tailoring business and they make incredible made to measure tailored suits!”
Sally Hayes officiated the ceremony, the bride remembering, “The ceremony was by the dam under a beautiful arbor that Rich and his dad made. I wanted it to be very relaxed and fun! My brother sang ‘No Fire, No Ice’ by Ben Harper and his girlfriend Emily wrote her own reading which was so special. Richard’s Sister read the lyrics from ‘Walk the Line’ by Johnny Cash and a very special friend Sarah read the lyrics from ‘He’s Not Perfect’ by Bob Marley. So as you can probably tell, music is a very big thing in both of our lives!”
Of their photographers, Fleur notes, “Our photographers were the very talented team from Mavis & Woods; they captured the day and night perfectly and were so fun and relaxed. The photos are just amazing; we were over the moon when we received them!”
Fleur notes, “We had red geraniums planted in half wine barrels everywhere. Our invitation was an illustration by the very talented artist Joanna Weir of the party scene so the red geraniums was the on going theme as they were also on our thank you cards she also did for us. We served Italian food so it was like a big Italian party in the bush!!”
For their first dance, Fleur remembers, “We chose ‘Sweet Thing’ by Van Morrison and then asked the live band to interrupt half way through with ‘You Shook Me All Night Long “ by ACDC to get the dance floor going! And did it ever!!!”
Congratulations Fleur and Rich! Thank you for sharing your day with us! Thank you also to Mavis Jean Photography and Lachlan Woods Photography for sharing today’s wedding!
