Carly & Tim
Carly and Tim had such a romantic feel to their sweet Fairfield Boathouse wedding. Living right across from the venue, it took a little while before they realised the place they wanted to get married was right under their nose. Carly and Tim chose Long Way Home Photography to photograph their wedding day.
Carly tells the story of how she and Tim met. “The CEO at my work asked if I would be interested in going on a date with his son (Tim). As you can imagine I said no. But after a month and some advice from friends I agreed. Tim didn’t know about the set up until he received a text message from his dad saying that “he should call this girl named Carly”. The rest is history and we have been inseparable since.”
Carly remembers “It was actually really lovely getting ready with my family and bridesmaids. We had wedding songs and 90s music playing in the background. Family and friends dropped in all day and it was a house filled with love.”
Carly wore her mother’s wedding dress and had it altered by Barbara Collinson. She explains, “When I was looking for dresses I went by myself. I couldn’t really find anything that felt like me. In the end I tried on my mother’s dress. It was love! When I put it on I felt so relaxed, happy and content. And it was a perfect fit. The dress did need to be altered slightly so it looked a bit more modern. The high neck came off and the material was used as the edge of the altered neckline. The flared sleeves were also taken in. There were a couple of stains around the waist line so my dressmaker added a silk belt to finish it off.”
Carly’s bridesmaids wore pale yellow dresses from Review.
The couple chose Fairfield Boathouse for their wedding, noting “The wedding and the reception were at the Fairfield Boathouse. This should have been the easiest decision because we live across the road from the venue. However sometimes you can’t really see what is in plain sight. We ended up looking at 8 different venues but none really felt special. We got married on the grass in from of the boat house and the reception was inside as well as on the balcony.”
The groom and groomsmen were dressed by Briggins.
Carly walked down the aisle to an acoustic version of The Beatles “Love Is All You Need”.
Of the ceremony, which was performed by Jenny Greenberger, Carly notes, “We wanted a semi formal but relaxed feeling. We were very lucky with the weather and it was perfect. We wrote our own vows and the ceremony was conducted by life long family friend.”
Of their photographer, Carly remarks, “Our photographer was Steph from Long Way Home Photography. She was so lovely and made everyone feel very relaxed. I sometimes forgot she was actually around taking photos. Very quiet and non intrusive. She captured all of the special moments that day. ”
“The wedding planner at Fairfield Boathouse made everything run very smoothly on the night. The planning stage at times was actually very tiring and sometimes stressful. I think my favourite part was putting together the table decorations with my family the day before the wedding.”
The groom’s mother had a cake made for the wedding and decorated it with fresh flowers.
To cap off such a beautiful day, Artistic Films were there to create this gorgeous, romantic film of the day.
