Marking the fashion event’s 20th anniversary in 2015, Steven Khalil showcased at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia for the first time. Seated inches away from the runway, the star-studded audience waited in silence with bated for the lights to dim and the curtains to open.
Premiering with an alluring colour palette of navy with metal tone highlights, a sleek capsule of fitted suits and statement gowns redefined luxury for the modern women. Complementing the navy capsule, gowns and separates in bold Tuscan gold and yellow-lime shades were next to grace the runway. With styles including a full-skirted reference to the 1950’s and a slim line structured dress, these bold tones were the highlight of the collection.
Moving beyond the traditional mindset of couture being aligned exclusively with gowns, the Steven Khalil collection showcased flawlessly sculpted separates that embody the same artful techniques utilized for gowns. Separates included fitted midi skirts, A-line floor length skirts and minimal tops for chic styling.
Following the procession of the ‘to die for’ looks in a selection of elegant dusty pink and deep navy hues, the audience was treated to a capsule of signature white gowns; the finale was a mesmerizing bridal gown. This was the piece that everyone had been waiting for and Steven Khalil did not disappoint. In classic ball gown style, this gown was a magical way to end a beautiful collection (and is sure to be on the wish list of so many brides to be!)
