So what happens after the wedding? When the glitz and glam of a big celebration has worn off? Hopefully love continues, hopefully it gets stronger and even more beautiful. This urban one year anniversary shoot of Amy & Ed celebrates just that- one year of marriage, of a new chapter in a love story, a nod to the traditional first anniversary gift of paper (captured by Sophie Timothy).
Amy and Ed tell the story of how they met. “We studied together at uni and were friends for a number of years before dating. We had quite a few history units together and then we started going out for coffee after class, I guess it went from there!”
Of their wedding, Amy remembers, “Our wedding was a late lunch picnic in a vineyard just over the river from where I grew up, in a small town in Tassie. We had the whole wedding there – we were determined to have a really relaxing day for both us and our guests! We had some lawn games like croquet and bocce and people grabbed a basket and rug to share.”
“It was really special for us because basically every part of our day was done by us or family, from the cakes made by Ed’s dad, the flowers Ed’s mum, beer brewed by my brother in law (check out kick snare brewery!) succulents grown by my brother in law and re-potted into teacups bought from opp shops by myself, my mum and my sister. My dad even chopped down a tree to make chopping boards for each of the baskets! It was really special to us to see how different elements of the day reflected different people in our lives.”
Of the shoot, Amy notes, “We chose to have this shoot because after living in Melbourne the last two years we moved back to Tassie for work. We both really loved Melbourne and although Tassie will always be home, we’ll miss Melbourne dearly. So we wanted to have something to remember our time there. We picked out a few special places to us and just wandered around for the rest in our favorite suburb. Whenever we look at them, we have strong memories tied to them.”
Amy tells, “We love that we can share each other’s likes and passions and grow through new experiences. When we started dating, I loved wine but Ed not so much. But we drank wine together often and he has grown to really appreciate and love it too! And I had never watched sport before dating Ed, but now I will choose to watch the cricket occasionally, and I think I could just about tell you the name of every starting quarterback in the NFL. Just don’t ask me to explain the game.”
Gorgeous images! I love anniversary shoots, they’re such a great celebration of a milestone in your relationship
