Jess & Jarrod
Jess and Jarrod decided on a relaxed poolside wedding for their marriage celebrations. They spent a week with their wedding guests basking in the newlywed glow and they chose Glass Slipper Photography to capture it all.
You know those stories of people who spent most of their lives near each other but don’t meet until they’re on the other side of the world? I love those and Jess and Jarrod have one of their very own! Jess tells, “We lived in the same small suburb all of our lives, and knew of each other through mutual friends, but had never actually met. Until we first met at a mutual friend’s 21st birthday. A few days later I went overseas, and the whole time we were texting each other. The night I returned to Australia we met up, and the rest is history!”
Jess chose a strapless gown designed by Mariana Hardwick.
Jess remembers, “The day before the wedding I had come down with a throat infection, and had absolutely no voice!! I had to visit the local GP who prescribed some antibiotics and luckily some of my voice returned in time for the wedding!”
Jess and Jarrod chose Peppers Beach Club & Spa, Palm Cove for their wedding, noting, “We had flown from Melbourne up to Palm Cove three days earlier to have time to settle in & relax prior to the big day. The weather was perfect and it was amazing to be on holiday with all of our family and all of our friends. I spent the night before staying in my parent’s apartment, got ready there with all of my bridesmaids on the day. Jarrod stayed in our apartment & got ready with his groomsmen & parents. We had our hair & make-up done and spent the morning relaxing. The ceremony was perfect and we went to have photos done on the ground of the resort, and then out onto the beach in Palm Cove. We returned to have the reception poolside, and then moved into the function room for the dancing.”
Jess walked down the aisle to Van Morrison’s “Have I Told You Lately That I Love You”.
Jess and Jarrod chose Joanne Male to perform their ceremony, remembering, “Our celebrant Joanne Male was lovely and spoke the most beautiful words throughout the ceremony.”
Of their photographers, Jess tells, “Steven & Keshia were absolutely amazing. Jarrod & Steven grew up together so it was great to have people we already knew. They were so easy to work with and made the day so much more special. They have the most amazing chemistry and produced the most beautiful photos. I loved how the two of them were taking photos at the same time, but captured the moment in different perspectives.”
Pink Moss created the floral arrangements using simple centrepieces of baby’s breath and plenty of candlelight. Cakes Annietime created a three tier wedding cake iced in white.
Of their first dance, Jess remembers “We danced to “Better Together” by Jack Johnson. It was just the two of us, no fancy dancing, just simply us.” Cairns Wedding Music provided the music for the ceremony and reception.
