Janie & Gerrit’s Romantic Beach Anniversary Photos

This romantic beach anniversary session is blissful in its beauty. Captured by photographer Carla Meyer, the couple took to Coogee & Tamarama Beach to celebrate their first wedding anniversary (check out their wedding here) at sunrise.

After residing in South Africa where their closest beach was eight hours away, their life together in Sydney is all about the water. For their photographs, they wanted the backdrop of a city they adore so much to feature heavily.

On how they met, Janie remembers, “We went to university together but didn’t really know each other. We only started dating after running into one another at a university reunion dinner after we had both started working.”

On what they love about each other, they tell, “She loves his caring and understanding nature (and that he gets up early for a sunrise photo shoot without complaining!) He loves her laugh and passion for the little things.”

On how Gerrit proposed, Janie remembers ,”He surprised me with a weekend away to a bush lodge where he planned a picnic and proposed under the stars.”
