Beau and I hosted a Mexican Fiesta engagement party at our home for our close family and friends. My sister designed the invites, which set the tone for a fun, colourful evening. All of our amigos put in a great effort and dressed up for the occasion. We had a DIY photo booth and props, which proved very popular for our guests, and were surprised by some of our musically talented friends who entertained everyone with a Mariachi Band set!
Rather than hiring extra seating I found some very affordable second hand furniture from op shops and Gumtree. I had fun painting them bright colours to match the colourful Mexican theme. Decorations also became a fun part of the DIY aspect including insisting Beau drink several Corona’s the week before so I could recycle the bottles as vases. My mum prepared a delicious Mexican feast and strawberry and cream sponge cake for our guests. One of our very creative friends also baked choc chilli cupcakes with flaming strawberries as well as tequila cupcakes, moustache cookies and edible maracas! Our guests posed for Polaroids which were pinned to a led light pin-board as a keepsake for the evening. After cake and speeches everyone headed outside to hit the piñata and light the night with sparklers. Our fiesta was a very memorable evening and a perfect way to commence our wedding and marriage celebrations.
