There have been so many deviations from the traditional “name ” message” guestbook over the past few years when it comes to guests wishing you well. When I first started Polka Dot ride, the latest idea was to have your guests hang their note card written messages onto trees to create a wishing tree. The Polaroid guestbook is a popular choice, but ideas like crockery which gets glazed and fired, paintings, quilts with handwritten messages photo matte boards and even recipe books have all been on the agenda as guest book ideas for our brides and grooms.
What have you chosen to do? Are you leaving out the guestbook idea or are you doing it? How are your guests wishing you well?
I think we will probably have a signing tree/thumb print tree. My mum paints so I was hoping to get her to paint one for us to make it a bit more special. Other ideas we had thought of was a love seat (dad is a builder so this is also a possibility) or the polaroid messages. We’re not really the “guest book” types and I think if we don’t have one of these other ideas, we probably won’t have anything at all.
My husband and I had postcards from the local beach towns (we live in Southern California) in a basket with a framed sign that said, “Leave a note for the Bride & Groom.” It was fun to see which postcard each guest picked out and it gave them room to write as little or as much as they wanted. I’m going to bind them all into a little book.
