Nicky & Van
I love a garden wedding and when I saw Nicky and Van’s celebration took place in Sydney’s Royal Botanic Gardens I was smitten. Then I watched as Nicky’s smile grew and grew over the day and wanted to be there to soak up her joy. It’s a special wedding that has joy seeping out every photo, so much that it makes you forget where you are, but that’s what today’s wedding did!
Nicky tells of how they met. “We met studying IT at TAFE. I fell in love with him instantly and we were together for 8 years until he proposed. He took me back to the place where we met all those years ago and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him, it was all very romantic!”
Photography today is by Uber Photography. I absolutely love the captures in today’s wedding with Nicky’s infectious smile and the golden light as the sun goes down.
Nicky wore a gown by Anaessia with gold shoes by Jimmy Choo.
Nicky’s bridesmaids wore gowns from Lover, Kirrily Johnston and Karen Millen. “My bridesmaids wore different dresses in muted colours of latte and taupes but I tied it all together with them wearing the same shoes.”
Nicky and Van chose Lions Gate Lodge, Royal Botanic Gardens for their wedding ceremony. Nicky telling “I have always wanted a garden wedding ever since I can remember so when we found the Lion Gate Lodge in the Botanic Gardens I just knew the wedding had to be there. It’s a beautiful cottage with a sweet lawn, I especially liked the fact that it had an undercover section just in case of rain.” Nicky and Van hired the furniture for the ceremony from The Hire End.
“I walked down the aisle to ‘I can only imagine’ an instrumental piece by The O’Neill Brothers.”
“I loved every minute of researching and putting together my inspiration board, it’s a good feeling when you have narrowed down all the details you have chosen to create a wedding that is simply you.” Robyn Pattison married the couple.
B & M Florist created the floral arrangements for the day.
Botanic Gardens Restaurant hosted the reception. “For the reception we used the Botanic Gardens Restaurant located just a stroll down the path. Having the ceremony and reception in one location made it easy for all the guests and meant we could have our photos within the beautiful gardens.”
Faye Cahill made the couple a gold wedding cake, Nicky explaining, “I wanted the wedding to have a feel of fantasy and glamour in it so I incorporated touches of gold throughout. My cake was gold along with my sequined Jimmy Choo shoes and the groom’s champagne coloured tie, even the bridesmaids nail polish had flecks of gold sparkles in them.”
For their fist dance, Nicky remembers “Our first dance was to ‘So this is love’ by James Ingram. The song is actually from Disney’s animated movie ‘Cinderella’ but has been redone to a more soulful version. The song was important to me as I’m a bit of a Disney fan!”
Congratulations Nicky and Van! Thank you for sharing your wedding ay with us! Thank you to Uber Photography for sharing today’s wedding!
The brides dress is gorgeous, and I love the bridesmaids dresses too.
