Maya and Nick
Sunshine in Fremantle seems to be the style of today’s engagement photos, the all embracing glow of the golden sunlight captured by Courtney Illfield. In between their traditional Indian wedding and their Australian wedding, the couple basked in their newlywed and almost married for a second time glow with a photo shoot celebrating their engagement.
Maya says, “We met early last year at Royal Perth Hospital where we both work as doctors.”
Nick says of Maya, “I love her honesty and compassion. Maya won’t hesitate to call a spade a spade. I love the way she worries about my well-being. Mainly I love the way we make each other better people.”
“We got engaged after only a few months. Things between us were amazing and I think that we just knew after a week that this was a very important relationship. One random night after work, Nick came over looking a bit flustered and asked me to go for a drive. We went up to Kings Park, to a spot that overlooks the city, and in the pouring rain, Nick bent down on his knee and proposed. To our delight of course I said yes! I called my parents who live in Newcastle straight away, little did I know that he woke up at the crack of dawn that morning to call them before they went to work to ask for their blessing.”
Of Nick, Maya says, “Nick is just the most decent, level-headed man you could ever hope to meet. He is ambitious and intelligent, I just adore spending time with him. Plus he is just gorgeous.”
“One day when Nick and I were at the checkout buying groceries, the shop assistant looks at Nick and says to him, “Wow! You’re really tall”, she then looked at me and remarked “The least you could have done was wear heels!”. Nick is very tall you see (6’10”), and I am 5’4″, we still giggle about that story regularly.”
“Nick is an amateur photographer himself, and when we saw Courtney’s blog, we just thought that this was the right person for us. Her photos are creative and artsy. She uses light and shadow beautifully. We couldn’t have been happier with our photos, though I don’t think I was a very good model! I was so nervous! I went to uni down in Fremantle where the photos were taken. We have always loved the buildings down there. When you meet Courtney, you realise that not only does she take wonderful photo’s, but she is a fantastic girl and that she will be a great addition to any wedding. We can’t wait for her to shoot our big day this Saturday.”
What a cute pair! Love these photos, they’ll make some amazing artwork for your home 🙂
Love the use of light here especially the shadow shots and the buildings, also the wind in her hair makes it all so carefree and natural – what a sweet engagement story 🙂
