Hin & Clay
I love a beautiful destination wedding and the wedding of Hin and Clay, captured by Hin’s sister Kara of Sunny & Sweet Photography was truly an intimate, family affair with all of the beautiful, traditional Fijian trimmings.
Hin kicks off their story. “We met at work and I know it sounds cliche but I knew immediately that he was the one and after a couple of dates we were both hooked”.
Photos are by Sunny & Sweet Photography- there must be something overwhelmingly moving about capturing your own sister’s wedding and I love that every shot by Kara is heavy with meaning and symbolism of the day.
“We stayed one night in Nadi and then caught an hour or so flight to Savusavu. The resort was 5km from the town on a secluded bend with bure’s that overlooked the ocean. On our wedding day it poured, not just a little rain, a complete downpour with strong winds. Then a half hour before our wedding the rain subsided, there were clouds but the sky was white and all misty, it was beautiful.”
Hin wore a gown by Camilla Franks.
“We had a small and intimate wedding with only a handful of friends and family. Our daughter was our flower girl and the resort organised a nanny to keep her entertained after the ceremony. My sister was our photographer and she has an amazing eye, she is also a great story teller, I really couldn’t be any happier with the photos. I just love them.”
The wedding was held at Jean-Michel Cousteau Resort , where the on site wedding coordinator did most of the planning. Hin recalls, “Jean-Michel Cousteau resort is a five star resort on the island of Vanua Levu, Fiji and it overlooks Savusavu bay. It has the most relaxing environment and in 2012 they won Australasia’s Leading Green Hotel. The resort’s wedding planner handled most of the little details.”
Hin remarks, “Our wedding was a mix of several cultures uniting under one umbrella. We walked down the aisle to the beating of drums and a traditional Fijian horn.”
For their first dance, Hin recalls, “We danced to “Carried away” by George Strait. While we were dancing I had this feeling that I was exactly were I was meant to be.”
Congratulations Hin & Clay! Thanks for sharing your wedding day with us! Thank you also to Sunny & Sweet Photography for sharing today’s wedding with us!
