Michelle and Mirsad
The stunning wedding of Michelle and Mirsad takes place in one of my favourite places – Byron Bay. But by keeping their wedding in the one location, guests were able to enjoy the vistas, the backdrops and the sense of the destination wedding while celebrating Michelle and Mirsad’s big day,
Michelle tells how they met. “We met through my friend, as Mirsad was his house-mate. So when I moved to Sydney I caught up with my former school friend and he brought Mirsad along and we could not stop talking. He asked me out on a dinner date and the talking continued on. We even had to ask the waiter to come back for our order 5 times…..4 years later and we still don’t shut up!”
The fun, fresh and easy going photography today was captured by Fiona Carson – Moss Green Images.
To pair with her Collette Dinnigan wedding gown, Michelle commissioned a custom hairpiece and back necklace by Fiona Schofield Millinery.
The wedding was held at Byron at Byron Resort and Spa. Michelle remarks, “We had both the ceremony and reception all at the one venue. The Byron at Byron, set within a forty five acre lush subtropical rainforest, moments from Tallow Beach. We had the ceremony and post ceremony drinks and canapes in the secluded area within the rainforest called ‘the Lotus Garden lily ponds’.
Michelle walked down the aisle to “Marry Me” by Train.
“Our archway behind us at the ceremony we made out of our excess stock of moulded skirting boards (as we were renovating around the same time). I wanted to build a frame like structure to frame us as we were standing up there in front of all our friends and family…like a picture frame effect (it turned out to be a big hit with the guests after as they all got their own photos taken in it).”
“Our destination wedding gave everyone the chance to have a little or big holiday and gave us the chance the spend time with them over a few days.”
Of their photographer, Michelle recalls, “Fiona from Moss Green Images was fantastic. We knew her from photographing our friend’s wedding in Bali the year before and we just loved her style. Her laid back personality clicked with ours and she understood the vibe of how we wanted the day to run. Our package included another photographer (Sheila) who was with Fiona and between the both of them they captured every special moment throughout the day. They stayed right till the end of the night. We will no doubt be contacting Fo again for my future baby bump, newborn and family pikkies! (PS. I’m not pregnant, maybe one day in the future but for now I’m just happy being married).”
“I did DIY my main decorations which were recycled glass jars of all shapes and sizes. I had everyone collecting them for me. We used these as tealight candle holders and the jars for all of our flowers. My bridesmaids and I wrapped twine around 50% of the jars and kept the other 50% clear (total number of jars I think was 155). The twine was used in different ways and all were clustered together on the tables as centre pieces. I also ordered synthetic turf rolls and cut them up to be my table runners in which the jars sat on. We wanted a simple solution to the decorations. Something that tied in with the beautiful green rainforest.”
“The reception was on the six metre wide verandah, located in the main resort area which featured a magnificent rainforest backdrop. We wanted to keep both the ceremony and reception outside and this way if it had rained we were still covered on the verandah but could still enjoy the beautiful vistas of the rainforest.”
For their first dance, Michelle remembers “Crazy Love by Michael Buble was the song we danced to on the dance floor with all of our friends and family circling around us. It was slow, intimate and precious. I loved every second of it and even the sexy dip I received at the end by my new husband.”
“As a surprise for our guests for traveling far and wide we organised a fire dancing show to show our thanks after the speeches were finished….it was spectacular.”
Congratulations Michelle and Mirsad! Thank you for sharing your wedding day with us! Thank you also to Fiona Carson – Moss Green Images. for sharing today’s wedding!
I love your navy blue shoes and headdress!Congratulations!
Hah! I discovered Shoes of Prey two nights ago and have been OBSESSED (and I mean, literally obsessed. I got to page 22 of Google, on my phone, at 1am under the covers reading reviews & scouring for more photos of them at weddings) with them since. The second I saw them here I was like I KNOW WHERE THEY’RE FROM!!! Lucky bride! Such fun shoes 🙂
