Kerry and Alan
The most beautiful weddings of all have their love shining through every photograph and it’s this in particular that drew me to Kerry and Alan’s gorgeous Summer wedding.
Kerry tells their story. “Alan and I met through friends. We knew each other for just over 12 months before we started to go out as a couple. We had built up a strong relationship as friends so the transition into a more serious relationship went smoothly. except for the fact that at that time Alan was living in Canberra and I was living in Sydney which wasn’t always the easiest. Before asking me to marry him Alan asked my two daughters, Melanie, who lives in Canada and Alison who lives in Sydney if they would be okay with that. He then proposed while we were away on a weekend to celebrate our anniversary.. I had no idea at all that he was going to pop the question Alan and I both love being active and outdoors which is what attracted us to each other in the first place. Simple things such picnics, long walks, the beach, music and travel are things we enjoy doing together.”
Sarah Braden Photography captured the joyous moments of today’s wedding beautifully.
Of their photographer, Kerry recalls, “We chose Sarah Braden Photography. I have known Sarah for a number of years and she was also the choice of photographer for my eldest daughter’s Australian wedding celebration at the Opera House and my youngest daughter is also using Sarah for her wedding this November in Nowra. Sarah is a very approachable and utterly professional person. She is warm and welcoming and is always ready to listen to your suggestions. Your needs and requirements are her priority. Sarah is easily contactable and gets back with answers to your question ASAP.. I would rate Sarah’s work highly and not hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for a photographer. ”
Kerry and Alan chose Nielsen Park Beach House for their wedding, Kerry explaining, “The choice of venue was an easy one for us. We knew we wanted something near the water as both Alan and I love the beach and being near water. It’s is something that brings us a sense of peace and clarity. It is ever changing and is there is something different to see and discover every day…. just as there is in life! So when we saw Nielsen Park with the amazing avenue of tress, the beach and park setting, the sandstone buildings and steps and the fact that you can step out of the venue onto the sand we knew we had to look no further. The team at Nielsen Park who helped in the coordinating, setting up and catering on the day were outstanding.”
“Brittany Robinson, was my events coordinator, my go to person. She was a delight to work with and was there to assist and support me throughout the entire process. From our first meeting and trying to visualise my ideas of the concepts and ideas I was thinking and bringing them to life on the day through to the final goodbye and thank you’s on our special day, Brittany was there Nothing was too much to ask. Having Brittany to there for support and guidance certainly helped to keep me sane. I would have been lost without her. ”
Of her walk down the aisle. Kerry recalls “I walked down the aisle to music chosen by and played by a very dear friend of ours. I had no hesitation in allowing her to choose the piece as she knew the feel we wanted and she is a wonderful violinist. ”
“Alan and I could not have asked for a more perfect day or location. Surrounded by 60 our most dearest and closest family and friends we were able to feel the.love they shared for us as we said our vows and made a commitment to each other as husband and wife.”
“The ceremony was held on Shakespeare’s Point which overlooks the harbour. We chose to have most of our photos taken prior to the wedding ceremony so as to be able to join our guests and begin our celebrations immediately after the ceremony. At the conclusion of the ceremony we walked the 200 metres down the beautiful sandstone steps onto the beach for a few photos capturing the light of the afternoon’s sunset while our guests mingled and were served canapes and drinks either on the sand or in front of the Neilson Park Beach House where our reception was being held. We had found our piece of heaven for our special day. And this is where our story begins.”
Kerry remembers, “For our first dance Alan and I chose a song by the Dixie Chicks called ‘ Lullaby’. It was a slow dance and the words to the song said all we wanted to say to each other. ”
Congratulations on your marriage Kerry and Alan! Thank you for sharing your story with us! Thank you Sarah Braden Photography for sharing today’s images!
