Hello everyone!
It has, honestly, been a while, hasn’t it? I’m sorry for the lag, it’s been rather busy on this end. Christmas and New Year’s came and went, and before I knew it, I was in New Zealand with the fiance (GP! <3) for a friends’ wedding! Suffice it to say, it was a marvelous trip! 🙂 Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to actually attend the wedding, but my fiance did (the reception, at the very least). From the photos I’ve seen, it looks like they had an awesome time. I was also able to talk to the newly married couple a few days after since we, luckily(!), caught them at the airport about to leave on their honeymoon. They looked so happy together. It was so sweet seeing them all married and such.
But moving on to wedding-related new – what’s been happening on my end?
Well – GP and I are currently thinking about dance-type scenarios. And we have something in mind (of which I shall not say any more because, well, it’ll ruin the surprise!). However, the dance we’re thinking of may require me to change out of my marvellously fashioned white wedding dress into something shorter. I told myself I wouldn’t go about changing dresses (I want to be able to enjoy my wedding without the pain of constantly changing dresses – as in regular Chinese weddings), but I might just HAVE to for this particular dance.
What’s everyone else’s opinion on changing out of the dress?
I know reception dresses are becoming more and more popular, especially as many brides nowadays want to be able to kick off their shoes and dance the night away, but I’m also wary of the fact that – as is ‘tradition’ – I cannot ever wear my wedding dress again. I have found some pretty white dresses which would work well with the dance, but I’m a little bummed that I’ll need to change out of the beautiful dress that I’ll be getting married in.
Hm… thoughts to think about. What’s everyone else’s opinion?
Ms Gingham says: I can see both sides to this one. On one hand, you want to stay in your wedding dress for as long as possible considering the fact that you probably will never wear it again. On the other hand, being able to change for the festivities and dancing is appealing too! I wonder what you all think?
Eileen says: “I am a Chinese-Indonesian-Australian getting married to a Dutch-Kiwi. We’ll be having our wedding up in the Hunter Valley and we’re planning it from Sydney. Although our wedding is still more than a year away, we’re trying to plan it now to save the stress later! (We’ll see how that goes). “
I had a reception dress planned, but accidently left it in our transport, and as the driver was on his way to another job when I realized, I couldnt get it back that day. But I ended up loving that that happened, I enjoyed being in my wedding dress all night, absolutely loved it, your only going to wear it once, I recommend making the most of it!
