Georgina and Ashley

Georgina and Ashley chose the beautiful Bellarine Peninsula for their relaxed seaside wedding. You clearly can’t wipe the infectious smile from Georgina’s face which only adds to how much I love beautiful stories like todays.

Georgina kicks off their story. “We met at work; I actually inducted Ash into the business and we were friends straight away. He says that he thought I was gorgeous from the get go and I thought he was just a lovely man. We became great friends through work although we were living in different states. About 6 months later he moved into a different part of the business, and asked me out on a Sunday afternoon date. It was a surprise and all I was told was to wear runners – I told him if we were going rock climbing this would not be going anywhere fast!! He totally swept me off my feet and had hired a yacht and captain to sail us around the bay from the docklands, and we had a picnic of rose, pate and baguettes! It was afterwards at a cafe that was playing jazz music, as we had hot chocolate and read the paper, I thought ‘Wow, if we could still be doing this in 50 years, I’d be the happiest girl on earth!’”

Jerome Cole captured today’s images. I love that in every shot, the joy is shining straight through. That’s what I love about wedding photographs!

Georgina wore a Augusta Jones with a belt by Wendy Makin purchased from Brides On Collins.

Georgina walked down the aisle to “Trumpet Voluntary’ by Jeremiah Clarke, played by 5 brass players from Whitehorse Brass (a band which my dad plays with).”

Georgina and Ashley chose St. George the Martyr for their ceremony. Georgina explaining, “St George the Martyr is one of the older churches in Victoria built in 1863-64 of locally quarried limestone making it a beautiful lemon colour. Father Peter Martin was wonderful and understood our modern relationship. Since becoming engaged we moved from Sydney, to Melbourne and then to Hong Kong, but were able to discuss the ceremony via Skype.”

Georgina loved, “Having Tim and Rich as my ‘bridesmen’ with the beautiful ‘real’ bridesmaid to guide them through it! It meant a lot having them all standing next to me.”

Of their photographer, Georgina remarks, “Jerome Cole was our photographer and he was just incredible! We couldn’t have wished for anyone better to be a part of our day. We both loved his relaxed approach to photography and the way he captured the heart of the day and produced it in pictures. Jerome knew that the boys were a little camera shy so arrived a bit early to share a beer with them and get to know everyone a little better. This resulted in the most perfect photos – just how any girl wishes to look on her wedding day!”

At The Heads in Barwon Heads was chosen for the reception. Georgina remarking “‘At the Heads’ was our dream venue – its exposed beams brought a romance to the glass room, yet being surrounded by the sand and ocean immediately made us feel relaxed and happy. “

Georgina’s mum planned the wedding right down to the decor. Georgina explaining, “All the flowers, lighting and ceiling arrangements were made by my amazing mum! She was outside the day before creating the incredible ceiling piece with branches, lights, spray paint and fencing wire. Mum and I did the table settings together via Skype, but she had all the ideas! She was just incredible and it wouldn’t have been my perfect day without her. I really didn’t want a lot of flowers throughout the day so I used candlelight and branches to give structure. The colours were based on the seaside location with any flowers being pale and the colour of the sand being brought in through the branches at the reception, the beading on my dress and the bridesmaids dresses. I brought the branch theme into the church with two 10ft silver birch trees framing the alter.”

The reception kicked off with a fun start! Georgina notes “My godfather was our MC and he had secretly given all the men at the wedding a key. After we arrived he said that he felt he needed to protect Ash so could all the men in the room that had keys to my apartment please come forward and return them…and all the men stood up and filed past us with these keys! It was hilarious!”

As for their first dance? Georgina tells, “Well, I kind of hijacked it! All the songs that mean a lot to us are really slow and mushy, and the thought of dancing (badly) in front of everyone to those made us shudder! We picked Billy Joel’s ‘Don’t go changing’, but at the last minute I changed it to L.O.V.E by Nat King Cole, and as I didn’t make a speech, I stood up and dedicated the song to Ash and how he makes me feel. It was wonderful – he had no idea, and about 10 seconds into our dance the bridal party hit the dance floor and it didn’t stop all night!”

The Baker Boys kept the guests dancing all night, Georgina remembers “The Baker Boys were our fantastic band for the night. I told them that my family were very serious about their dancing and they took that and ran with it. The dance floor was packed until they kicked us out!”

Congratulations on your marriage Georgina and Ashley! Thank you for sharing your day with us! Thank you also to Jerome Cole for sharing today’s images with us!
