Richard and Aleisha
I met the deliciously lovely Rich on facebook.Yep. How modern of us. He’d just moved to the UK. We both grew up in Hobart but strangely had never met. I was intrigued. We skyped for 5 months, I bought a plane ticket on a whim and we ‘met’ for the first time at Heathrow airport. We bummed around France for four weeks, he gave up his high skilled visa, moved home to Australia, we set up house and we’ve been together ever since.
Our wedding was was full of laid-back laughter love and great cake.
I wore shoes from Melissa and a dress form Wayne Cooper.
Sally Richardson a great gal and a gun hair and make up artist, (who has made up everyone from Florence Welch to Lady GaGa) created my wedding look. She came up with a classic finger wave and a red lip. Très elegant. Accessories included a black hair slide by Karlie Gartner and a bracelet (a gift from the Groom on the day) by Georg Jensen.
My bridesmaids wore their own black dresses, with shawls from Sportsgirl.
I walked down the aisle to Songs of Love Ben Folds. I loved having my dad and grandfather ‘Poppy’ walk me in. I’m not much into smushy stuff but that was pretty ace.
Rich is studying architecture at The University of Melbourne and one of his classmates got married at the beautiful Boyd Baker House in Melbourne. We googled it. We loved it. It’s Mad Men in the Australian Bush. It’s a private house, it sleeps 16 people and you basically mold it around your own design wishes, caterers etc. We had 15 of our nearest and dearest friends and family come and stay with us and work like slaves to set up unpack, pack up, carry things….look I’m not going to lie is was A LOT of work but hell you only do it once…hopefully. Vanessa Ballard married us.
I met Louisa Bailey, our photographer when she took my head shot (I’m a comedian) a few years ago. She’s talented and sassy and is a photographic ninja. I’ve watched her work at other weddings, zipping in an out of crowds, crouching… she get’s the best shots and never yells at people! A must for your wedding day! We really wanted casual but thoughtful photographs, capturing the vibe of the day. Something Lou did wonderfully.
My advice to other couples? It’s one day. Don’t be mental. Don’t get into debt. Don’t be an A-hole. Enjoy it!
Simon West Jewellery made our wedding rings.
The flowers were by The Seasons Flower Florist (03 9417 6399)
We hit the jackpot when we found a company (Cake Ink) that not only made stationery but also cakes. Designer Samone created an invitation that highlighted the house and lots of bright colours. We specifically requested NO swirly writing or traditional wording. The invitation is the first impression the guests will get of our wedding and we wanted guests to know that this was going to be a sauvé but relaxed affair. Janelle, the cake maker of the business created a three-tiered cake that features polka dots and colour!
Our dessert table was by Frank, Food & Me.
I spent the Easter long weekend sewing yellow polka dot napkins and a couple of brightly coloured buntings to hang around the house. We bought hessian from the hardware shop to make table runners, we created our own grazing table and lots of added extras.
Ed Dixon Food Design catered the food and drink.
We worked really hard putting the day together and we couldn’t have done it without our friends and family. It was très elegant on a budget and truly memorable.
I loved having our beautiful friend Julia Zemiro MC our reception. She is sassy and I love her.
For our first dance we danced to Mel Tormé’s ”Comin Home Baby’. It’s old school funky and we shimmied and twisted our bums off.
Some of my favourite memories of the day include kicking our shoes off and dancing like crazy to the BEST DJ ever, Andrew McClelland (0413225325). Getting up the next day and breakfasting and debriefing with all of the guest who slept over at the house. Driving home with Rich and laughing exhaustedly about the fact we pulled it off.

Ms Gingham says: So excited and thrilled to have this amazing wedding on the blog today! Thankyou for sharing your day with such wit and class Aleisha!
Aleisha it’s so fab to see your wedding up! I’m sad we didn’t get to meet you as I think I’d like to have seen a pose with that face and a ribbon wand! Congratulations on your marriage
Best bridal advice I’ve ever heard!
I like your bouquet very much! May I know what the flowers call?
LOVE this post. I don’t normally comment on blogs but I had to say this is the coolest bride I’ve ever seen. She’s so animated in every photo and I love how much fun they’re having! It’s so refreshing seeing wedding photos of a couple who isn’t being really precious and taking themselves too seriously.
hi, great photos. We are strongly considering having our wedding at boyd baker this summer, but as all mothers do, my mum asked an annoyingly practical question about flies and mosquitos. Did you notice an unusually large number of either out there on the day/night?
Your wedding looks wonderful, but for those of you out there thinking of booking at Boyd Baker House, please note that the owners were recently refused planning permission from the Moorabool Shire Council to hold events & accommodation.
Read the following documents from Moorabool Shire Council and VCAT prior to making any booking:

I can back up what Steven is saying. We are embarking on a not so nice road to get our money back. They hounded us to pay a deposit (we were still deciding) and once they got our money, and we’ve found out a whole lot of information about this, we’ve asked for a refund. This was weeks ago, our next move is lodging a VCAT application. Very unprofessional (no contracts, receipts or terms and conditions). Avoid!
DO NOT BOOK HERE. These guys don’t have any permits to hold functions and events and we are still fighting for our deposit. Stay clear!
fantastic photos looks like a great day
