Carl and Megan
Having planned for several months a worldwide holiday together, the furtherest thing from my mind was a proposal. Having met at work, and then moved in together only 6 months later, it was very clear to those around us that our relationship was somewhat special. Sharing a love for travel, we embarked on a six week vacation through America, the United Kingdom, Europe and Asia.
Carl traveled through America first for two weeks and kept the ring closely guarded during this time. I met him in New York the week before Christmas and it was the most magical time to be in the city. To celebrate the beginning of our holiday together, we went out to Brasserie Ruhlmann for dinner before going up top of the Rockefeller Building to see the city by night.
It was raining which worked in Carl’s favour as he didn’t want to propose in front of a group of people. He was extremely nervous and didn’t really spend much time admiring the view. It stopped raining for a moment, and we went out onto a small balcony and as I turned around, Carl was on one knee with a 1ct cushion cut diamond which he designed.
We then spent the next four weeks travelling around the world, enjoying an engagement-moon. Upon return to Brisbane in the new year we jumped straight into our wedding planning. After choosing the wedding venue of Custom’s House, we met with Chris Hall Photography and felt extremely comfortable with their approach to our wedding day.
New Farm Park was chosen as the location for the engagement shoot as we live nearby and often frequent the park for fitness and relaxation. The Powerhouse brick facade served as the backdrop for several photos, and was extremely sentimental given our engagement in New York City.
