Hi,
We are getting married at Maleny Manor at the Sunshine Coast on the 12th Oct 2013. I was scrolling through and thought how beautiful the studded chairs were and the scene of them in the garden outside – it would suit our garden vintage theme wedding to a tee! I also love the blackboards and the old wooden signs. Would love to have some of your beautiful furniture and items to tie in with our wedding! Juanita xx
My fiancé and I spent ages trying to find a wedding venue and style that felt right for us. We explored some of our favourite city restaurants but felt quite disheartened, mainly due to high costs and disappointing standard ‘package’ options.
Earlier this year we found Samsonvale Hall, an old country school hall just north of Brisbane. We will get married there 6th April 2013. Here, we have complete control of every aspect and can add personal touches unique to us. For example, we LOVE playing lawn games, so after the ceremony (held under huge fig trees), guests can play games such as bocce’, with drinks & canapés. Also, over the years we have been renowned for crazy dress-up parties and have quite a collection, so some of these will be available for the dance floor when the band is playing! We also want to set up a space in the hall with couches, rugs and lamps for guests to chill out during the night.
Entertainment and overall experience for everyone is important to us – we want our wedding to be a celebration with our loved ones – fun and relaxed with a country vintage vibe. Many elements of our wedding, including decorating the hall will be DIY. Decorating will be a HUGE job, but so helpful if I win this competition!! Many of our friends and family are helping us out with their skills – this will create a relaxed vibe and make our wedding personalised and memorable!! I can’t wait!!!
Sorry….. forgot to add that the beautiful mismatched wooden chairs would be perfect for our reception tables, plus the vintage couches & old suitcases for our chill-out space!
My fiancé proposed in Rome on Christmas day 2011, two days into our four week holiday. Needless to say it was the best Christmas present and the greatest start to the holiday, making the entire trip even more romantic.
As a result we have decided to follow through from the proposal and our trip with a romantic vintage travel themed wedding, set in the heart of Brisbane. Our ceremony will be held in a park at Newfarm overlooking the Story Bridge followed by light refreshments and garden games in the same park. Our reception will be at the historic Brisbane Polo Club.
We will be incorporating personal items from our home as well as treasured memories and photos from the trip during the reception. As a surprise to my Groom I am hoping to have the band who plays at our favourite farmers market to play prior to the ceremony and during the garden party, but until I read this post, this was as far as I had come with ceremony preparations and we have not even considered styling for the ceremony and our post-ceremony garden party *d’oh*.
I have immediately fallen in love with everything on offer but especially the array of vintage armchairs, which would be a glamourous touch for when we sit and sign the register and these, plus the couch could also double for seating during the garden party. The little wooden stools are too cute and could act as mini tables for the refreshments and the numerous crockery and glassware would be perfect for the same reason.
I also especially love the mismatched glass bottles, medicine jars and the like; our wedding flowers will be Baby’s Breath and which could be housed perfectly in these objects to add to the vintage theme.
We want to celebrate our day with those who are nearest and dearest to us, and we also want it to be not only the beginning of our lives together and memories, but also make our guests feel that they’ve had a sneak peak into our own journey and love story.
We are getting married in July 2013 and the theme we have developed is soft, modern metallics. We are self-styling and are having such a ball coming up with design concepts and special touches for our day. Those fabric armchairs would look just gorgeous and provide seating for our guests during cocktail hour overlooking the Brisbane River. Your beautiful linens would add a special touch to our tables and that silver ruffle pleat cushion embodies our wedding perfectly!! Just divine.
Take yourself back to a time when girls wore daisy chains in their hair, boys wore suits made of linen and ladies of leisure crochet table clothes for their afternoon supper tables.
Driving down a dirt driveway arched by beautiful trees you reach dear Gurragawee, in Brooklet just out of Newrybar. Here lies the place where two will be come one as we say ‘I do’ in our very own way. For this house will be our very own ‘One day house’ for the day we plan to make it a haven for our friends and family.
Upon gorgeous mismatched chairs our guests will sit, the chalkboards our friends will scrawl messages of love to be captured by a time lapse camera, jars hanging from the jacaranda tree with sweet scents of Spring for our wedding day October three! Lover of crochet, lace and all things old worldly, I feel THE ONE DAY HOUSE will be the perfect icing on our oh so special day!
We are high-school sweethearts, getting Married in May 2013!
Our whole relationship has been in Brisbane, and this is where I was born and lived my whole life. We got engaged up at Mt Coot-tha looking over the city, so it was something we really wanted to embrace in our wedding theme. We wanted to do something a little different from your typical vineyard, country, hall, or golf club wedding! and being a younger couple something a little out there!
This is why we picked the Heritage Listed Brisbane Powerhouse on the Brisbane river in NewFarm. The Ceremony is on a Large Open Terrace and our Reception is across the Hall in a Large Function room, with a joining deck where the walls are grungy and covered in Graffiti and Paint also looking out over the river. Our reception is a High-Tea, so there are many things in the range I can list! I really think all the pieces would work because its not your typical High-Tea Venue and beautiful one off/mismatched furniture would look so great with the Graffiti and Urban Theme.
I would love to use the glass vases on the tables, particularly the twine wrapped around it looks great. Also the tarnished jugs/mugs and bottles would look great. i LOVE the linen too.
However its the furniture that i think would make it!
The mismatched chairs, the crocheted pouffe and the yellow lounge is my favourite or the white lounges would suite PERFECTLY in the reception room either inside or on the deck. If not maybe they would be great additions to our family and couple shots in the New Farm park?!
Thanks for Reading!
On first inspection Jordan and I knew that the Byron Bay View Farm was our ideal wedding venue and a place that we both felt an instant connection with. It’s old country charm, sprawling paddocks, “homely” feel and unique decor was the foundation for our wedding vision. This vision is one of simplicity mixed with raw, organic Australian influences – think bouquet of native flowers, locally sourced produce and earthy toned decor.
On 11 May 2013 Jordan and I will wed in the back paddock of the Farm overlooking the stunning Byron Bay hinterland followed by a intimate reception under the stars.
One Fine Day’s decor would perfectly compliment our wedding venue and vision because its products are both unique, timeless and organic – exactly what we wish and hope our wedding day will be.
Whilst we love all of One Fine Day’s decor, we are particularly in love with the timber items (i.e. tables, chairs, signs and crates) as they will assist in bringing to life our vision for a raw and organic wedding. The vintage plates are also our favourites as they remind us of a Sunday lunch at our Grandparents place and of happy family times.
We hope you can help bring our dream wedding to fruition.
How do you create the perfect mix between timeless elegance and sophistication with rustic, industrial chic in a converted warehouse in Brisbane’s celebrated boutique event venue, Light Space? One Day House…we need your help!
We’re a couple of modern romantics, living abroad…dreaming of a day in which we bring together our families and friends to share in our love of tradition and ‘things that were made with care’, with all the trimmings of modern day life, live music and city lights.
We will marry on Friday 20th September 2013 at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Newstead followed by an afternoon and evening of festivities. We chose Lightspace because it already embodies and celebrates the old and the new, the antique and the modern.
I can see One Day House’s travel suitcase waiting patiently at the entrance to our reception…a symbol of our journey to reach this momentous day, and reminding guests of their own life’s journey, and the journey we’re about to begin. (Funnily enough, I have an old travel suitcase that I use as a bedside table here in Switzerland, so this item is a must for me!).
I see two of the armchairs and a sofa in the bar area of our venue…so homely amidst the clean lines and chic attire!
We plan to seat our guests at long, ‘family lunch on Sunday’ style banquet table settings, and your wooden mismatched chairs would perfectly set off the relaxed and familiar atmosphere we’d like to create.
We could use the wooden frames for ‘funny photos’ and serve our dessert buffet from the gorgeous antique serving ware. Somebody stop me!
Ok, lastly, we’d like to keep our table flowers low set, to help keep conversation flowing, so the little glass jars would be perfect for the job!
We would be the happiest little Vegemites in Switzerland to know that we’re coming home to showcase such a perfectly styled event at such an exciting and vibrant venue.
Wishing all the brides-to-be a happy and enjoyable planning fest!
Our rustic, French country-side wedding in September 2013 has been entirely styled around our stunning, ‘straight from a European fairytale’ venue, Deux Belettes in the Byron Hinterland.
The wooden crates from The One Day House would look gorgeous holding some soft blankets to keep our guests warm at night and the elegant crystal serving bowl would be perfect to hold home-made macarons (I’ve been practising!) for after dinner sweets.
After 10 years together, we’re finally getting married in May 2013 on the Sunshine Coast where we went to school together! We’re currently living overseas so it has been so hard for us to plan our wedding without being able to see anything in person. I came across The One Day House and absolutely fell in love with everything. It fits perfectly with our garden wedding vibe.
My favourite products are the wooden trestle tables because they’re wide enough to fit beautiful centrepieces down the middle. A close second are the fabulous mismatched chairs! But everything is so gorgeous I don’t know how I could stop at just those two things!
My partner and I are getting married just south of Byron Bay in November 2013. We have scored an amazing venue that suits us to a tee. Were looking at an outside ceremony followed by canapes and reception in old barn/horse stables. Our theme is BOHO ROCK inspired.
If i won this prize, i would make use of the bottle for lush colorful table pieces. The mix matched frames would be awesome for photos in back of our oldskool truck and the crates would be perfect for our favors or to use in our simple outdoor ceremony holding colorful bouquets of flowers.
The style and range of those pieces are absolutely divine. I am not entering this competition for myself, but for my beautiful friend Emma. Em is getting married in October 2013 and she is the most inspiring, kind and none selfish person I have ever met.
I think that in a wedding all elements should reflect the bride and groom. Those pieces mixed and matched are all stunningly beautiful, they have a peaceful look to them and I think that their unique style would bring a wonderful calm over the day. Elegant & euphoric.
Dear Polkadotbride,
