Holly & Phillip

Hello Canada! We have a stunning wedding from Abbotsford, British Columbia today! There’s something completely moody but beautiful about today’s wedding.

The couple won their photography through a competition! Their photographer explains, “We met the the couple in a bit of a unique fashion. Prior to Christmas of last year, we hosted a Twitter contest where the winning couple would win their wedding photography. The contest was an absolute success as we had about 100 entries. Holly and Phillip were our winners though, and that’s how we met them!

The way a couple entered was they had to Tweet a specific message on Twitter that we assigned. They could have friends Tweet on their behalf as well, which would increase the couples chances of winning.”

Today’s photos are by Nordica Photography who have captured so much through their slightly abstract photographs which convey the mood of the wedding without too many details.

Holly wore a gown from Champagne and Lace. She carried white calla lilies from Blooms and Beyond.

The photographer adds “The detail that stuck out in our eyes was the preparation that went into this wedding. It was very apparent that the bride had fine tuned every single detail of the wedding from the clothing to the venue to the food. There was no rock unturned, and that all added up to a very, very beautiful and well thought wedding.”

Phillip wore a suit from Everything But The Groom.

Holly and Phillip held their reception at the Best Western Regency Inn.

Cranes were a theme throughout the dinner. The bride is of Japanese heritage, and there were many (well, more like thousands) of handmade cranes around their table. The couple used a photo matte around an engagement photo as a guestbook.

A cupcake wedding cake was made by Patti Cakes.

The photographers recounted a funny story from the evening, “When the dancing got underway at the wedding and the dance floor was still fairly empty, the bride’s son (about 5 or 6 years old) and the groom’s niece (no more then 3) were acting like kids do and having a great time playing.

However, the young boy decided ‘running at full sprint’ was a new form of dancing and he was darting everywhere. The girl followed suit, of course.

They ran into one another at 110% full steam so hard, we thought for sure they would have concussions and be wheeled away to the hospital. Think of two New Zealand All-Black rugby players running the length of a field straight at one another and bam!”

Thank you to Holly and Phillip for allowing us to share their wedding day! Thank you also to Nordica Photography for sharing today’s photographs with us!
