Yolanda and Ben

Finally! We’ve seen their engagement pictures, had a sneak peek at their DIY projects and today, I can finally share with you the wedding photos of Yolanda and Ben!

Living in Western Australian, Yolanda and Ben were friends for almost four years through mutual friendship groups before finally deciding the time was right to get together.

Yolanda and Ben were married at the Rose & Crown Hotel.

Yolanda says, “Ben spent his formative years working in old pubs and as a beer lover, great beers on tap was a must.  We had both lived in historical areas of Perth and near the Swan River for many years, and our first home together was a 1930’s apartment in a  similar heritage style to the Rose and Crown, which was built in 1841 and is one of the oldest hotels in WA.

In 1827, Captain Stirling wrote of the area  in which the hotel is located, ‘The bright foliage of the shrubs, the majesty of the surrounding trees, the abrupt, red-coloured banks of the river occasionally seen, the view of the blue summits of the mountains from which we were not far distant, made the scenery round this spot as beautiful as anything of the kind I had ever witnessed’.”

Today’s photography is by Samm Blake and the wedding planner was Cathrin D’Entremont.

Yolanda had her gown made by Kevin Raphael of Galleria Couture she saw it 18 months before they started planning the wedding and says it was everything she wanted ” It was the right mix of quirky, pretty, vintage, sparkly and wow all mixed together!”. Yolanda paired her gown with ballet flats from Witchery.

The floral arrangements were created by Budding Stars.

Yolanda’s wedding day hair was styled Sam Parone– who had been doing Yolanda’s hair for almost ten years!  She wore her grandmother’s bracelet from the 1940’s.

The couple hired cars from Frits RR Service. Yolanda tells of a special moment “My husband gave Frits (the driver) an envelope to give me that had a note in it telling me how proud of me he was, to take a moment and relax, breathe and enjoy the moment, and that he would be seeing me very soon.  It was so special as the morning had been a little crazy and it reminded me of how well we knew each other and supported each other.  I just couldn’t wait to get there and marry him.”

Yolanda says “To grab everyone’s attention and be a little dramatic we started with Lamb’s “Gorecki“.  But my sister (bridesmaid) walked out to Barry Lois Polisar’s “All I Want Is You, a quirky hoedown style song from the film Juno .

I walked out with my dad to the line “All I want is you, will you be my bride, Take me by the hand and stand by my side”.  It made everyone laugh and we got lots of comments on how much people liked it.  It made the walk down the aisle really happy and bright and I still get the biggest smile and buzz when I hear it.

Sharing the ceremony moments, Yolanda says “Our celebrant Stacey Morris was fabulous.  She assisted us to prepare our own vows and the entire wording for our ceremony.

Ben and I poured over her comprehensive booklet of suggested wordings and cut and pasted and tweaked every word until it represented our beliefs and intents.  Stacey was warm and friendly and encouraging, and presented our vows in a beautiful booklet to keep.”
