I love the Wizard of Oz- you might remember me lusting over my own pair of ruby slippers last Christmas. Something about the red glittery creations of my feet make me grin.
September was the month that the famous ruby slippers as worn by Dorothy in The Wizard Of Oz turned seventy! To celebrate the anniversary, a number of designers designed their own version of the ruby slippers using Crystallized Swarovski Elements and a gala was held to benefit the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation
The designers included A. Testoni, Abaeté, Alberta Ferretti, Betsey Johnson, Botkier, Christian Louboutin, Diane von Furstenberg, Giuseppe Zanotti, Jimmy Choo, L.A.M.B. by Gwen Stefani, Lisa Pliner, Manolo Blahnik, Moschino, Oscar de la Renta, Roger Vivier, Sergio Rossi, Stuart Weitzman, Tibi, and Tuleh.
After creating sketches, the designers created their shoes which went on display in Saks Fifth Avenue before touring around the US.

Oh honey! I would wear the first and last pair every day if I could. The pair of Oscar De La Rentas made me want to cry.
Thanks so much for making my evening!
Love & Soul Always, Kay
I have wanted a pair of ruby slippers ever since I saw this movie…I envy the little girls now who can pick up a pair in Target and wonder why they can’t make them in my size!
I’m Dorothy every year for Halloween. I have made 2 pairs already and I’m debating wearing one of them for the wedding because I love the Wizard of Oz so much.
We even named our dog Ozzy and call him Oz 🙂
The greatest approach to know could be to go towards store and try em on!
