    I love those shots! In this instance I’ll be a tad jealous because my groom will be in his military dress whites. No tie there! But, 3 of the groomsmen are civilians so we stumbled on the perfect ties for them and the dads!
    Literally stumbled on. It was one of those out of nowhere accidental perfection things!

    Polka — these are AWESOME!! I’ve been trying to tell my brides not to be scared of purchasing cool ties instead of using the rental shop ones that come with the tuxedos. This will be a great story board that I can show them in reference!!

Have you noticed the subtle shift we've seen this Have you noticed the subtle shift we've seen this year? We're moving away from what's being dubbed "sad, beige, boring Christmas" toward something that's being called "tacky Christmas." Now, let's be clear here – tacky Christmas isn't actually tacky. It's technicolor joy. It's those special ornaments from your childhood that might not match but tell your story. It's sparkles, shiny baubles, and a sense of unabashed celebration. And people are here for it. The comments we see? "Yes, recovering sad beige addict here, bring on the joy!" Have we been doing the same thing with weddings these past few years? Even now, the perfectly curated, perfectly executed celebrations (by amazingly talented vendors, no less) are stunning, beautiful, pinnable, and “likeable”. These are the ones that collect the likes, the follows, and the features. But in our pursuit of perfection, have we muted our joy? What about the colour explosions that make your heart sing? The mismatched details that tell your story? The silly little sentimental things – like displaying the first stuffed toy they gave you or boldly featuring your favourite colours of orange and blue? The things that might not be "Pinterest perfect" but are perfectly, wonderfully you? It isn't that these personal touches don't appear in weddings - they do. But there's an undercurrent of pressure, an unspoken rulebook of "must-do’s" and "absolutely-must-not-do’s." Don't follow too many traditions, or you'll be labelled basic. Don't go too off-trend, or you'll regret it. Don't be too on-trend, or you'll look dated. It's exhausting, isn't it? We know we're beating the same drum we always do here at Polka Dot Wedding, but maybe that's because it bears repeating: what if doing it your way – regardless of pins, likes, or raised eyebrows from well-meaning relatives – is actually the secret to a truly memorable celebration? What if we bring that "tacky" Christmas energy to weddings and celebrate what makes each love story uniquely, authentically yours? Perhaps it's time to turn up the joy. To embrace the "tackiness" of being completely, unabashedly yourself. Because in the end, isn't that what celebrations are really about?
