Under the canopy of stars, Sarah and Tim’s love story glimmered in the glow of their monochrome wedding. Their celebration perfectly blended romance, fun, and personal touches. With a minimalistic black-and-white theme accented by touches of gold, their day was nothing short of stunning. Imagine dining under the stars, surrounded by wall-to-ceiling fairy lights that transformed the space into a romantic wonderland.
Every detail of their sparkly monochrome wedding was carefully curated to reflect their journey together, from the chic colour palette to the oyster shell name cards that referenced their unique proposal. Their celebration at Two Ton Max is a night to remember! And thankfully, they had Scott from Art Of Grace there to capture every moment.
Like many modern couples, Sarah and Tim met on Hinge! Soon after, they learned about their shared love of oysters – which became a recurring theme in their journey to marriage.
On a road trip to Merimbula, Tim had booked an oyster shucking class for the two of them to enjoy. What Sarah didn’t know was that Tim had organised with the woman running the class to put a certain ring in a clean oyster and then glued it back together. “The last oyster I shucked had the ring in it, and it was such a surprise and so romantic! We celebrated together, eating the oysters we had shucked and drinking champagne. It was perfect!”
The one thing Tim knew he wanted was a nice tailored black suit that he’d be able to wear time and time again after the wedding. Wei at Oscar Hunt in Prahan is his usual go-to tailor, and he absolutely nailed the brief!
He had his three best friends in his wedding party, each wearing a black suit and black tie to match the bridesmaid’s dresses.
One of Sarah’s favourite parts of the day was having her grandma present and part of the wedding. “She is the only remaining grandparent out of both Tim and I, so that was very special.”
Sarah wore this gorgeous sparkly wedding gown from Moonstruck in North Fitzroy. “I didn’t have a particular style that I wanted to wear, so I was open to trying different styles. My grandma lives in north Fitzroy and said that there was a bridal dress shop near her and I should go, so I did and that’s where I found my dress. It had some sparkle in it that suited the vibe of the night.”
She had three of her best friends from school in her wedding party. They wore beautiful black outfits that perfectly fit the monochrome vibe of the day.
For the flowers, Sarah chose understated arrangements with white roses as the star of the show. “Lauren from State Of Nature did a wonderful job and we were so happy with the flowers!”
Their venue for the day was the gorgeous Two Ton Max in North Melbourne. “We wanted a venue where we could have our ceremony and reception in the same place, and it was important that our ceremony rolled straight into the reception. We didn’t want a gap in between,” she explained. “It was also important that we could have the majority of our guests sitting down for the ceremony. A lot of venues we looked at had a very small ceremony space where only a few guests could be seated. We also loved that we could style the venue how we wanted; this was really fun and exciting.”
They didn’t have many traditions at their sparkly monochrome wedding, but the one tradition that was really important to Sarah was that her dad walked her down the aisle. The pair of them walked to “Songbird” by Eva Cassidy.
Not wanting a super traditional or long ceremony, Sarah and Tim enlisted the help of Maddie from Just Maddied. “She was amazing. She was able to capture our story and tell it to our guests in a funny but also special way and bring the guests along on our relationship journey.”
While the ceremony was simple and no-fuss – the one thing they did include to add a unique touch was their ring bearers! “Having our dogs (Hunter and Ruby) a part of our ceremony – they were our ring bearers and it was very special!”
Their photographer, Scott from Art Of Grace, was the perfect choice to capture this sparkly monochrome wedding! “We are so happy with the photos! Couldn’t have asked for better photos. We asked for candid shots, and he nailed the brief!”
The top three things that made their wedding so special included:
“1. How personalised it was to Tim and I – it was the perfect day and night.
2. Having our dogs there with us for the ceremony.
3. All our friends and family that travelled from Interstate and overseas.”
One of our favourite details from this reception space is the call back to their engagement! “We found a lady on Etsy who made us real oyster shells for our name cards. They looked so good on the tables; everyone took them home and had them on display or a little keepsake to put their earrings in, etc!”
Their first dance was a mashup of two songs – starting with a slow dance to “How Deep Is Your Love” by the Bee Gees. They then surprised everyone as the DJ transitioned the song into “How Deep Is Your Love” by Calvin Harris! “It kicked off the dance floor, and everyone jumped in. It was a great time!”
Please join us in congratulating Sarah and Tim! This sparkly monochrome wedding is truly incredible – you two did an amazing job. Thanks to Scott from Art Of Grace for capturing the beautiful vibes of the day
