Providing beautiful blooms to the Melbourne, Yarra Valley, Mornington, and Dandenong Ranges regions, One Fine Daisy specialises in dried everlasting flowers. These are perfect to keep and decorate your home with (they will even arrange your bouquet in a vase for you after your wedding day), and perfect for anyone who is allergic to fresh flowers (no more sneezing and tears ruining your wedding day makeup), and let’s not forget that seasonality of the blooms and colours isn’t ever an issue. From bouquets to boutonnieres, floral arbours (for hire or purchase), floral hats and floral wreaths for the littlest member of the wedding party, this economical and long lasting option may be just the ticket for your big day.

Drop into their Pakenham studio to discuss your colour and style dreams with Courtney or Jess – and do look into their hire range of signage, decor items, backdrops, boho picnic hire and lawn games items to add that something extra to your decor.

We asked Courtney of One Fine Daisy five questions in five minutes:

Weddings are the best to work on because….

The pure joy that weddings bring. The love, the families, the dancing. My absolute favourite part about doing wedding florals is delivering the bouquets to the bridal party as they’re getting ready. The excitement is absolutely infectious.

What is something people would be surprised to know about your job or something that challenges you about your job?

The time it takes to run a wedding floristry business. People see the consultations, the creating of the florals, etc, but they don’t see the amount of time that goes into administration. I’m constantly up until midnight answering emails, doing quotes, etc (and possibly drinking wine…).

What is it about the creative process that you most enjoy?

I can’t even put it into words. It’s my happy place. I love being able to take someone’s idea and transform it into something they will treasure for a lifetime.

What are you hilariously bad at?

Cleaning! It’s not that I’m bad at the actual process….but actually getting around to it. I have to force myself to carve time out of the day to clean the studio (creating florals is messy business!)

When you were small what did you dream of being and where have those dreams taken you?

In grade 1 I wanted to be a lollipop (crossing) lady…but there’s still time for that haha. To be honest I never really ‘knew’ what I wanted to do with my life. After high school I studied primary teaching as it seemed like something I could do. But after 3 years I knew I couldn’t sustain it, I didn’t have the patience! So I transferred to a BA and majored in photography. I then headed back to uni when I was 30 to do a post grad in property and became a commercial property valuer. I enjoyed the numbers side of the role, but corporate life wasn’t for me. After having my two boys, I ended up as a wedding florist, something I never thought I would ever be doing (especially as it meant more study). However it truely feels like it is where I am meant to be.
