Peta of Weddings Captured By Peta takes images that you can’t mistake for anywhere but in Australia, with the quality of the Australian light – sometimes harsh and waning into mellow, and the countryside also sometimes harsh and bleached by the summer sun, sometimes green and lush after spring rains. Wherever a wedding is though, whether it be in the country or the city – all speak of promises, love and forever and Peta captures this all so beautifully with her camera to tell your story.

We asked Peta of Weddings Captured by Peta five questions in five minutes:

1) Weddings are the best to work on because….

Weddings have always been the official symbol of ever lasting love – and I am such a creative person that gets to let loose on a wedding day capturing all those moments documentary style; whilst evolving my style so that the content I shoot from the day is original and through my eyes of how the day happened!

It’s fun for me to find new angles and pieces of the day, and bring them together.

2) What is something people would be surprised to know about your job or something that challenges you about your job?

If everyone is/or was shooting the same way, the world would be BORING! I love a different spin on current trends and making it work for my style.

To stand out and establish yourself in the wedding industry I think it’s all about being a reliable vendor.
I want to think about how people will view their wedding pictures in 5-10 years time… how do they want to view their day? I want to shoot and capture those moments.

3) What is it about the creative process that you most enjoy?

I’ve always had an interest in creative things – I did photography class was in high school but it wasn’t something that I pursued beyond year 10.

I definitely have transitioned quickly from lifestyle photography into weddings; which at the time I knew nothing about and am just so grateful for those couples who trusted me diving straight into their day with a hell of a lot of ambition and excitement!

The back end of a photography business is equally something that I enjoy as well – the online education available these days is incredible; and the resources we have today mean that no matter what sort of learner you are and how quickly you want to dive into things,  it is right there for the taking!

4) What are you hilariously bad at?

EEK great question haha – I always find it a bit awkward walking into the groom’s suite – you never quite know what your heading into!

5) When you were small what did you dream of being and where have those dreams taken you?

It started with me wanting to photograph my girls at home and the animals …
Now being viewed as a competitive wedding photographer in our area – I just have to pinch myself sometimes because I love what I do – it has changed and shifted everything for me and its crazy to look back on.
