The Gold Issue fills us with so. much. joy. What better way to celebrate the last full working month of 2021 than with a month of sparkle? So today’s cocktail is an ode to that. Meet the Gold Rush.

With just three ingredients (plus ice) this one is super simple to whip up. It’s a bit like an easy sour, all the freshness of freshly squeezed lemon, the sweetness of honey and the deep warmth of bourbon. Really, there is a reason why it’s called a gold rush, let me put it that way.

This one is a particularly good choice to serve post-ceremony,  or on arrival – especially if the weather is a little cooler on your big day.

Ingredients

  • 60ml bourbon
  • 22.5ml fresh lemon juice
  • 22.5ml honey syrup (made with equal parts water and honey, stirred until dissolved). (We also suggest that ginger liqueur or even ginger syrup from a jar of stem ginger, would be a tasty sweet addition).
  • Lemon twist for garnish
  • Ice

Method:

  1. In a  cocktail shaker, add ice, bourbon, lemon juice and honey syrup.
  2. Shake until cold and well combined
  3. In a lowball glass, add fresh ice
  4. Strain cocktail into glass
  5. Garnish with a lemon twist.
