The Gold Issue fills us with so. much. joy. What better way to celebrate the last full working month of 2021 than with a month of sparkle? So today’s cocktail is an ode to that. Meet the Gold Rush.
With just three ingredients (plus ice) this one is super simple to whip up. It’s a bit like an easy sour, all the freshness of freshly squeezed lemon, the sweetness of honey and the deep warmth of bourbon. Really, there is a reason why it’s called a gold rush, let me put it that way.
This one is a particularly good choice to serve post-ceremony, or on arrival – especially if the weather is a little cooler on your big day.
Ingredients
- 60ml bourbon
- 22.5ml fresh lemon juice
- 22.5ml honey syrup (made with equal parts water and honey, stirred until dissolved). (We also suggest that ginger liqueur or even ginger syrup from a jar of stem ginger, would be a tasty sweet addition).
- Lemon twist for garnish
- Ice
Method:
- In a cocktail shaker, add ice, bourbon, lemon juice and honey syrup.
- Shake until cold and well combined
- In a lowball glass, add fresh ice
- Strain cocktail into glass
- Garnish with a lemon twist.
